Graham I have the Aquilla fitted to my Sti and it is fine.It has a nice touch that when you touch the brakes twice the door's lock thus preventing any car jacking or bag pinching.
A cat1 alarm is fine but if they really want your car then it will go.
You will receive lot's of good advice on the net but it will come down to what you want to spend.
Cheers Paul.

When getting a META get them to fit a tilt sensor, about £60 extra(I think) so if they try to jack or tow your car away the alarm is triggered!

I had one fitted to my Dutch import and it has been fine. Just the basic Cat1 Immobiliser/Alarm with no bells or whistles. Cost me circa £400 fitted.
Ps. I hadn't heard about them before I was offered this but found out that that they are Original Equipment on a large number of marques. Alfa, Fiat and even VW (I think). Oh yes and they have a road-side billboard advertisement on the A14 (er....between Modena and Bologna)
