opitmax or not

Optimax has been under much scrutiny regarding the RON rating. It does seem that the stuff degrades very rapidly. The best thing to do is to put a little at a time in order to keep fresh in tank.

A lot poeple saying it degrades, i think its rubbish personally. More chance SUL degrading as less people are using it becuase all the higher RON guys have all swithced to optimax

I get a lot more ignition timing out of Optimax. I can happily run at 1.5 bar with it. With 95 and 97 RON I was really in a vicious cycle of det above 1.3 and 1.4 bar respectively. (ie keep retarding the timing but can't shift the det). It works for me.

There may be variable batches of Optimax but for any Jap import or seriously modded car then IMHO Optimax plus octane booster has to be the choice. This is not a whim but a conclusion I have come to after lots of tests and observations and several re-maps of my Link ECU and with the aid of the knock link.
On the same ignition advance and % octane boost det can occur quite easily on super but is not evident on Optimax.
