DeCat friendly MOT Stations
#1
Can anyone recommend a DeCat friendly MOT Station in SE London, Surrey, Kent area ??
93 WRX Import [none stolen] which is fully decatted, I have been told that imports are not on the data base for CAT emmissions, but the 2 MOT Stations I have been too have both failed the car for emmissions, when I said its an import and not on your data base they replied, we class it as a UK car, no cat and its failed sorry etc etc blah blah that will be £££ please.
I need to get an MOT as the Tax runs out end of this month.
Cheers in advance.

barge,
I seriously doubt that you'll find anyone putting the name of such a station up on a public forum... maybe some kind soul out there might mail you offline though.
As another possibility, CHECK YOUR V5. If it says does not say "Impreza" on it (some just say Subaru rigid body twin axle) then you can legitimately claim that they DO NOT have data for it... if they still won't do it, get them to check with their DETR contact who will tell them NOT to do a cat test on it
Cheers,
Pat.

A 93WRX does NOT need cats for MOT trust me. It was not originally intended for EU markets and as such is not on the data base ( law changed at the end of 94 I think to require cats on non eu cars). You do not need cats and you mearly need explain this to your tester when you take it in!
