Question

Anyone own/been in one of these? Seems like the ultimate Impreza! I had never seen one of these until I thought I'd ckeck out what the most expensive Imprezas in the UK cost on Autotrader... Anyone got any background info on these and are they really worth nearly 40k?

There was one in Raynes Park a couple of weeks ago. Didn't look particularly special IMHO. Not 7 grand special.

m8, it ain't how they look, so much how they GO! Very quick, very stiff and very light. The front end geometry is great - nose stays on line (unless provoked) and tail follows nicely (+ power oversteer is never far away ). In a word: Fab.

AJ. I agree. If it was about how they looked none of us would buy scoobs. But for the extra money an RA will do just fine.

what are the specs for the 202???

i'm really curious as to where the extra money goes??!?!?

Wouldn't it be much more cost efficient to just buy the stock and modify yourself? Or is this stuff you can't buy?

Question

I know they do 320 bhp and have an additional or upgraded oil cooler.

What is the ft. lbs. of torque on these things and at what rpm is it achieved ?

Thanks,
Ray

This car is based upon the RA spec C.

That means its 90kg lighter than the standard RA.
It has special Cams & larger Air Filter
A Ball Bearing enhanced Turbocharger
Transmission Oil Cooler
Revised/upgraded suspension (from the already upgraded spec C RA)
A revised sports ECU
Stainless Steel Brake hoses for better pedal feel
Redesigned Disc Rotors saving 7kg across the un-sprung weight of the car
STi Pillow Ball lateral and trailing links
Titanium Muffler
Specially designed Carbon Fibre Rear Spoiler
Revised Engine Internals
ABS
No Drivers Air Bag
400 Build

Weight: 1330kg
(Only 60kg heavier than the 22B)
(But 140kg lighter than the STi UK )

BHP: 320

Torque: 283lb ft (384Nm) @4400
- More than the 22B (363Nm)
- 30lb ft more than the STi UK

I can’t describe how much better the car drives than the ‘UR’ Impreza.
From what I’ve read over the past months most Bug Eye owners have been saying this for a long time!
The suspension is SO MUCH BETTER than the 22B as to be hard to accept.
It smoothes out the types of poor road surfaces that the 22B would ‘really struggle’ over.
In this respect it’s also significantly better than the Evo7.
In a word…..Fab.
It’s also very VERY fast.

It’s also worth reinforcing the point however that in the looks department
It’s not everyone’s Cup of Tea.

Question

So speed wise it is similar to a decatted JDM STi-7 (well actually a little faster due to it being 300 lbs. lighter) ?

Cheers,
Ray

Paul,
So just to clarify,
The Sti S202
has higher power/weight than your old 22B,
better suspension than your old 22B,
bigger and better brakes than your old 22B,
bigger wheels and tyres than your old 22B,
4 doors not 2 like your old 22B,
advanced mechanicals (oil coolers etc) than your old 22B,
better spec turbo, exhaust etc than your old 22B,
6 speed gearbox compared to 5 in your old 22B,
3 proper seatbelts in the back unlike your old 22B,
more powerful headlights than you old 22B,
etc, etc

So to summarise do you think it would be fair to say that your NEW STi S202 is faster, better handling, better braking, better equipped, better build quality, better developed and all in all a BETTER car than your 'old' 22B, which by comarison is now becoming sadly redundant, even though 'in its time' it was a good car.

And thats before you consider any additional modifications.
You lucky devil.

Would you Adam and Eve it

Well I have to say it sounds absolutely fantastic.
And no doubt you will actually 'drive' your car and enjoy its abilities.

Can't wait till its run in then I can have a run and see how much better it is than my STi7.

Cheers MTR

I don't find the import 22B suspension a problem at all!!!

In fact I think it is a bit soft - but then, I did run GAB suspension on my WRX

Sounds cracking, I am hopefully going to NM7 so would love to take a gander at this new beastie

It's obviously a better car than the 22B, but for me the 22B would win on looks alone. The new Subaru, including this s202 look naff.

I'd just love one in Blue but even though the rear spoiler is Very light an efficient it would have to go loved the Std spoiler on my old MY99
