Get a 2nd hand Evo 6 for around £19k and you then have £11k to spend on mods. Hmmmmmm..... £11k will get you serious levels of performance from an Evo6 - should be looking around 400+bhp with 350-400 ft-lbs of torque. Should make life interesting

e.g from autotrader...
2000 NISSAN Skyline GTR 34
, 2000 , Metalic Blue, 10,000 miles . ABS, Air Bag, Air Conditioning, Central Locking, Electric Mirrors, Electric Windows, Passenger Airbag, Power Steering, Stereo. £33,995.

The only thing s better than the sound of a flat 4 is flat 6 or V8. If it was me I'd go FoOr a TVR Cerbera V8, you can pick up a great example for 30K.

If you want to stick with jap cars than for 30K I'd defiantely go for a Skyline. Although Evo's are nice and will be alot quicker than a UK Scoob (unless your Scoob is heavily modified of course) they aren't that different. The Skyline is a true step up IMO, alternatively you could look at a 22B if you can find one. The ultimate Scooby .
Alternatively you could go for some of the other non jap options like a porker or the TVR.

What a great situation to be in!
Go test drive every car you find in your budget and take it from there.
My initial thoght was TVR though.
I am free most evenings and weekends if you would like me to test drive anything on your behalf!

Aust try this website
www.kaizousha.com
Its based in Japan and offers the most mental cars i have ever seen. A friend bought a 700BHP skyline from them at a very reasonable price. When i say reasonable, i mean for under £20k landed. The only thing to worry about is when its time for an sva it may be hard to pass. ie my mates car was modified to kingdom come. When he turned up to the sva he failed emmisions even though he put the standard exhaust back on. This puzzled a lot of people. We checked the ecu which looked standard from the outside. Its not untill i had a look at it and i saw a small MINES sticker on the back which gave it away. We borrowed a friends standard ecu and it passed with flying colours. Anyway back to the main topic, i would import a car! Try a few of the jap auctions and bring it in yourself as most importers will rip you off on profits. A similar skyline to my mates that i saw for sale was up for over £25k so the advantages are clear.
Cheers
