After a few conversations over the last few days I have been trying to find out some more infomation about octane boosters.
Millers CVL was recomended to me but I can only find details of Millers VSP. Silkolene also are supposed do octate booster as well.
I am not running a cat but have heard that some octane boosters could damage the oxeygen sensor ?
Has any one used any of these products in there Scooby or shed a little more light on the subject.

millers vsp is probably is the best (FIA Approved) but i tried to order it from DT and they were out of stock. i have been using silkolene proboost @3% for a track day i had on sunday past and my god it does make a difference. i also now of "rockoil boost " all of which will work fine if you have a cat. i know a very nice UK22B running rockoil. so you are safe with all the above.
the only point worth mentioning though is that PRO Boost is available in most of your local motorbike shops ( well all the ones i have been to) but millers stuff isn't. so it is less hassel to buy.

Millers CVL (competition valve lubricant) is the only MSA (motor sports association) approved octain booster allowed in UK motorsport events. It is allowed as its main job is to lubricate the valve seats.

You can buy it in crates of 10 bottles for £40 direct.

it will increase the octain by 2-3RON if used at the recomended doses.

Millers of Brighouse are very close to me, they sell Octane Plus-C (for cars with a cat fitted) at £3.49 for 250ml. Does 50 litres & increases by 2RON.

I started using Silkolene FST (Fuel System Treatment; £4.20 for 500ml) which has octane booster in it, in my STi4 when SUL went down to 97RON.
I had noticed a difference in performance at high boost / revs and thought thought the fuel was to blame.
I ran the tank "dry" and filled up with the recommended mixture.
I swear that within 200m I heard the engine run smoother! The difference was startling. (I believe I am not alone in this observation).
I did an ECU reset a few days later and the perfomance difference was noticeable.
I have since switched to Silkolene Pro-boost (£7.50 for 1L) as it is a pure octane booster and works out a bit cheaper.
It worked out cheaper still when I went to a local motorcycle dealer and ordered a case of the stuff!(10L for £62).
The recommended mix is 1-3% depending on desired result.
A Scooby's tank is 60L so half a tin mixed with £20 of petrol should give you about a 1.3% mix depending on fuel costs (78ppl at my local Esso station).
I think you also have to bear in mind that your outlay on booster is not a total expense as you do get a slightly better fuel economy to help offset the outlay.

Has anyone dared to try neat toluene? Obtainable in large 50L drums at a fraction of the price of all proprietry octane boosters. Apparently is the main constituent of most commercially available products. I have access to this at work but I have not yet tried it in my STI V5. 250 ml per tank-full should do the trick. Does anyone perceive a problem with this venture?

PS I am half serious about this having read the 'make your own octane booster'postings on several web sites!
