Gooday all,

My Australian spec v6 sti runs with 14psi max boost and doesnt push the way it should. Ive spoken to heaps of dealers, of which all have said that it should be running more, but none can find the problem. Ive checked for air leakes, faulty B/O valve etc...to no avail. If anyone has had similar probs please help shed light on my problem. Also driven in town like a ***** it does 15 litres per 100 km. This is ridiculous and dont know if there is a relationship, unless there is an air leak but from where????????????
Please help.

Cheers

YY

Question

Have you tried resetting the ecu? This is a long shot, but in South Africa, with our crappy fuel, the cars sometimes go into failsafe mode. What fuel are you running?

Could your boost pack sensor be reading the pressure incorrectly? i.e. It may be faulty. This would also explain the increased fuel consumption. What I mean is the sensor may think its getting 18psi when its only getting 14. It will map fuel and ignition for this pressure. The STI has a higher pressure range sensor than the standard model so you will need to try another STI one or get your dealer to try a replacement.
Could Be?

When you say boost pack sensor, do you mean the MAP sensor bolted to the strut tower? This is what measures "Manifold Absolute Pressure" and sends the signal to the ECU. Yes i have tried another from another STi but to no avail.....I have even reset the ECU...still to no avail. I always run 98 octane fuel.
Thanks Guys, Please keep the suggestions comming im stumped!

Cheers

Could you have the wrong spring pressure in your turbo wastegate actuator? May be worth trying another one?

Is the tension on the wastegate actuator spring adjustable? If so maybe i could wind it up?
Is this feasible?

I'm having the exact same problem, with a v6 STi.. 15lt/100km light city driving and more recently the same boost problem.. cept it's only making 13psi.

This thread is from years ago.. any further developments/ solutions?
