i realise that the bonnet scoop on the MY93 Legacy Turbo is purely to channel air down over the turbo, but someone has said to remove the panelling beneath the scoop to allow more cold air over the intercooler.

Is this wise, useful or a waste of time, or maybe detrimental or dangerous if the turbo does not get the requisite amount of air flow over it.

Any views and opinions greatfully recieved

Thanks

Jason

Just another quick question, I know that the sensors in the fuelling system alter the ignition depending on the fuel being used, and these can be reset - ie when using SUL, and wanting things to change straight away rather than waiting for 3 or 4 tankfuls. This is done by disconnecting the battery, but for how long???

Thanks

Charge cooling is another form of Intercooling , only rather than an air to air (Air cooled as on Impreza) it is water to air , inside the water tank on the top of the Legacy engine it looks like the intercooler on the Impreza except that it is enclosed and surrounded bt coolant , I don't personally Know , but I've been told that air to air are more efficient than water to air.To stop the rattly tappets on my Legacy I used to use FORTE engine flush (approx £10) then refill oil with comma 5w40 Syner-g and then add FORTE oil treatment (approx £14) makes the oil change expensive but used to last for 8 - 10k miles before becoming noisy again . The forte stuff is available from some main dealers (that explains the cost)and works a treat , I now have an Impreza and still use it because it seems to run better than without .

Cheers

Mine does have a rattle, but it goes if you turn the engine off and then back on, or brake and just before the engine stalls press in the clutch, that works too.

I use a Castrol semi synth, as that is what my local dealer puts in.
