The item on the BBC page is headed: 'Plans to introduce thousands of new speed cameras across the country are welcomed by motoring organisations.'

Aaaaaargh ! (noise of head hitting desk)

I'm thinking about getting that done as well. The A34 is just a flashing and beeping frenzy up here in Stoke.

God help us all!

How many of these new cameras will actually be active is a different matter.

I drove past 9 cameras on the way to Swindon on Saturday, and only 1 was active. The 3 in Milton Keynes haven't been active for the month I've had my 550.

Barstewards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it does remember IP addresses but I connect through an Address server to the internet.

I would just like to say to those who did vote for this government - SERVES YOU RIGHT

Tis the nature of democracy that the majority tyrannise the minority...

Voted! 5790 votes, 68.91% say no!!! My maths isn't brilliant but I'm sure that is 2 to 1 against!

Just read the rest of this post and watched as the percentage has worked it's way up. Do you reckon it is just because Scoobynet has found it?

P.S. In the 5 minutes it has taken to type this (slow I know!) it has gone up to 5825 and 68.98%!

Wink

Just added my 5 votes - no's now 69.04%!

Could spend all night deleting the cookies & voting again but I think that I've made my point (as has my 4 year old son & his friends.. )

* Sensible mode on *

My vote is really to move ALL cameras to accident black spots - result all black spots covered & no 'revenue only' generating cameras.

It is in all our interests to reduce the number of accidents - the sharp rise in the cost of personal injury claims is one of the key drivers behind our increasing insurance premiums.

* Sensible mode off *

Right just voted no to more motorists tax. Then I read the comment. The people in favour of cameras have all swallowed the the various government / transport2000 lies... this makes me mad, but then there are lies damn lies and statistics.

Us motorists are very bad at representing ourselves, we accept outdated and unreasonable laws, amazingly high tax (petrol/RFL/congestion charges/speed cameras).

We need to better voice our concerns. The ABD is a start, but much more is needed, the BBC poll has shown that the majourity of people are against the government's proposal yet we do not mount any effective form of projest! Any ideas? I don't think any other nation's motorists would stand for the things we put up with!
