Had a look at the SIDC site and someone had posted a question regarding LPG conversions.
1 reply said he knew of 2 Scoobs that had be done
Hardly any power problems, but did not know the company that did the work.
Any ideas????
Sound too good to be true! Could 97RON and Octane boosters be a thing of the past? As I understand it LPG is 100+ octane. (and its a BIT cheaper i think

I read that the current LPG conversions (Phase I) did not work correctly with turbo'd engines, but give it a year and Phase II ones would.
I don't know whats different between them, but I have spoken to a local fitter who said LPG on a Turbo car was no good at the moment! Anyway would love to hear otherwise as that would be great!

Someone wrote a letter into Auto Express a couple of weeks ago saying he'd had a VW Golf TDI and swapped for a Scoob Turbo but missed the VW's fuel economy and wanted to convert his car to LPG and did Subaru offer a conversion kit

True or False??? Perhaps I just made it up then
One is actually a Forester Turbo (same engine as an Impreza) and is owned by my Dutch distributor (a Subaru dealer), the other is owned by a grey import dealer in Newmarket.
Both work perfectly.

Pete,
any chance you'd email me a contact name and address for the grey import owner chap? just that I'm curious about LPGing a scooby, as are others, and I'd like to chat to the guy about his conversion.

For what its worth chaps, you need a either injectors, or a special variable mixer, to cope with the extra demands a turbo gives...
A friend of mine converts cars to LPG, and he reckons its fine, theres a slightly noticable drop in power with a mixer fitted, as it sits in the air stream, but at @112 octane, and roughly half the cost per mile its worth it...
FWIW - I had my old Prelude converted, and I lost a little top end power, and fuel consumption was @26mpg, compared to 32mpg on petrol...
Injectors are still not as reliable as they could be, so if you don't want the loss of power it is probably better to wait...but don't leave it too long, or Blair will slap some more tax on it.
Also - I'd heard that LPG is classed as a heating fuel, if this is so its should be taxed at heating VAT rate of 8%, not the ripoff VAT 17.5% we have now..
Try emailing him some questions:
