Sport bonnet, yay or nay for Turbo?????
#1
Advice apprecited on the following:
I am having a bigger Turbo and FMIC fitted and have been told about pressure problems, would it help if I fitted a Sport bonnet or would this not help the engine from cooling, not a bit but a lot in the dark about this one. Also I don't really want to say good bye to my scoop. I supose I will get more folk trying to race me thinking I am a sport not a Turbo.
Many thanks to everyones efforts to help in advance.

I could be very wrong, but I think you'd get cooling problems. Also, doesn't the intercooler draw air in from the scoop?
As for people wanting to race; Turbos don't seem to put them off, no matter what they're driving...

Moe, take a look at the underside of your bonnet. There are vents to the left of the intercooler rubber seals. They are directly above the turbo...

Erm given that FMIC stands for front mounted intercooler, and also given that the scoop provides airflow over the standard intercooler, I can't see why you should have a problem. The Impreza Sport requires the same amount of engine cooling, it doesn't have a different rad or anything. After all it has the same engine and running gear.
Cooling the air in the intercooler, as you know, does not have a lot to do with controlling the engine temp, rather to do with pumping more dense air into the cylinders.
A number of tecchie minded folks on here consider an oil cooler a useful (some say vital) addition to the car. You might want to consider one, but with a FMIC I dunno where you'd put it!
Looking like a Sport, going like a turbo, how cool is that!!!?

In Japan, I have seen people put the oil cooler rads in the space vacated by the original intercooler.....the scoop then provides cool air to the oil cooler!!

Adam,
If I had a sport one of things I would do is get a well sorted suspension like Leda,
You would be surprised, asuming you havent got that far yet.
Sith looks like I will just have to look at 3 bulges when I'm driving;-)
