If so let me know what you think.

I had it done on the MY00 and thought it was a worthy investment, but MY01 info seems scarce and Cheltenham is a 'kin long way

Dave

Thanks for that. I was trying to minimise the understeer without Leda's. Any ideas?

It doesn't need it. They did it at the factory - different geometry to the MY00.

18" wheels/tyres will help......but lowering the MY01 is the way to go as it sits so high.

The Leda setup is brilliant - and you get a free geometry setup when it is fitted

I don't think there is a cheap way out unfortunately....

On the track I could not really tell any major differences between a car with Leda's and one without. Both were been driven by very competent drivers. I only have the 17" GT-1's as I quite simply could not afford the 18" set up as well as pay for the car. But it does understeer as much as the MY00 on local roads when pushed.

Thanks for your advice once again.

Question

Hi Tony

What tyres/size are you running?

The Eibach springs as detailed elsewhere may give a partial fix - but you get what you pay for unfortunately

Thinking further, there have been reports of uneven '01 tyre wear on here, and Evo's long termer had the same problem. The factory suspension settings have a lot of tolerance between both extremes, so while you cannot do/don't need the rack mods of PS's setup, an alignment check, particularly toe, might be worth it.

Emmmm....

NO WAY does a correctly set up MY01 understeer like the previous model! It's the main redeaming feature. All it needs now is lower ride height, improved lights/spoiler and about another 10/15% power and it will be "the" car to beat again.

No disrespect but I would suggest getting your car checked over.

PS. Previous cars were MY97/99's.
PPS. Yes, tyre wear does appear higher than on previous models. Though even at the moment (11k miles) and should be good for 15k+ if swapped around.

Tyres are 215/45/17 OEM, but I have got a set of brand new SO2's in the same size to go on when I get chance.

Mike

No two cars or drivers are exactly the same. I can only compare my MY01 with my MY00.

Cheers

Hi Tony

I would say your first port of call is powerstation to get your complete geometry checked.

I have to say, that I would be surprised if there is much bump steer in th MY01 it feels pretty neutral.

But... your car may well be out slightly somewhere. The MY01 (as said previously) has wonderful turn-in, so there is a good chance something is out a touch.

Either way. If you tell powerstation what you want from the car, they should be able to set the geometry to help achieve it.

If you're still not happy, then start looking at the various damper / spring configurations available.

Cheers

Well, as you say, no two cars are the same and everyone's driving style is different - I can't say i've noticed significant understeer with either the MY00 or MY01 in standard setup.

Difficult then to pin it down. The OEM RE011's aren't too bad I found (well, compared to RE010's ), but get the S02's on as soon as you can!

Dear old Secret Agent Man ( Jerry) described my MY01 as a Forester on stilts before the Leda was done - they do ride high.

I would suggest get the S02's on, get at least camber and toe checked all round, and think about lowering it.
