There are a lot of ferarri's that are a lot slower than scoobies. There are a few that are faster too...

You'll have to specify model...

Magnum's wouldn't be a challenge...

i pissed on my first ferrari last week an F reg 328gts(magnum stylee) and the new owner of it followed me into halfords car park to ask what mods i had on my evo and he was really upset as he only had the ferrari for 2 weeks and paid £38k for it lol,so he know wants to get an evo as well i should have been a sales man lol.a P1 will do the same, just dont try racing the 360 modena's as it makes you feel like your in a 1.1 fiesta.

The (becoming mythical) Scoobynews CD article put a few wrxs + UK turbos, a P1 and a 22b against a 355 in some straight line (quarter mile) drag tests at Bruntingthorpe March 01.

You'd be amazed at the results......

The handling test was great too. Would like to see it out there one day.

The O in GTO stands for 'Omologato' I think, as in homologation, where you have to build a certain number of road cars to comply with competition regulations.

BTW, easily beat a 355F1 from about 20-120mph (Evo 6), so I think a P1 would do the same.

Not that it really matters, I would swap my car for a 355, slower or not.

Of course they never actually built the road-going homologation versions of the 250 GTO. Enzo convinced the FIA that ordering the kick-up tail, longer rear end, close ratio box, etc. were options on the standard 250.

DOH!
I stand corrected, this had ben nagging in the back of what i refer to as my mind, Omologato as in homologation is correct, just checked on a Ferrari site.

I had a P1 and now have a 348TS - 10yr old one. Can honestly say a modern P1 absolutely destroy older ferraris, as they are so flippin difficult to drive smoothly. Heavy gear, steering, clutch etc etc. The P1 was a veritable ballet dancer in comparison. Plus, the P1 warmed up quicker, windows shutted properly, was practical.... need I go on.

The 348 is nowhere near as bad as some purists make out though - still a lovely car to drive above 60mph (feels like a big kart).
Which do I have more pleasure driving? The 348 without a doubt as I drive slower, yet still have a big thrill just tootling along, then full throttling it to hear the roar. Smelling the oil, getting the back end loose - all part of the experience so I guess I have to accept that I now know there's more to a car than just outright speed and handling...

We then spoke about a certain grey Subaru terrorising him the other day, lol, someone was tired

i severely stuffed a Testarosa when in Germany. One of the funiest things i have seen on the road as he was showing off to his girlfriend and dropped it a cog as i was starting to overtake him at 80MPH. I did the same and left him, he gave up at 150MPH. This wasnt in my scoob though, still makes me laugh now.

Scoobs are very quick 0-60 compared to almost any performance car. There isnt much out there to match an STi TypeR/RA on under 100MPH acceleration.

yep, can testify to that, there ain't nothing more special than a 355 driver having to pull over to let you pass

...at least he had the decency to give a thumbs up...looking slightly sheepish...

...oh and for anyone that says they just ain't trying...i couldn't hear my own engine over his (he was in front), and I had my windows up ...

I'd have to agree. As a 0-100 tool even an out the box STI Type R\RA is formidable which is why I bought one

Although saying that I'd still rather have the 355 any day of the week. As mentioned before, sometimes it's not outright speed that makes a car special. IMHO the 355 is still one of the best looking cars on the planet and I know Scoobies sound lovely. especially with a decent zorst and de-cat but you have to admit, The sound of a Ferrari on full song is just something else. I urged a 355 driver to gun one in a tunnel a while back and much to my delight he did I almost had to reach for the tissues I keep in glove box

My mate has a 512 TR (newer Testarossa) 5l V12

There is now way on earth I could keep up with that in my modded my99. Now waaaaaaaay.

I got back in mine after a ride in his and was very sad for a few days. from about 50 - 140 it was quite frightening... I wouldn't get too cocky

Earth to fellow scoobyboys......ever wondered that the 355 guys didn't want to risk life and license???? A scooby, any scooby nor sti bar a very heavily modded one, will not even see which way a 355 went once over 30-40mph. And the 512TR (the 12 stands for v12) that someone burned on a freeway in germany? hehehehe you must have been dreaming or the guy was just not interested. Full stop. Don't bother replying as I won't be writing further: been in both the above ferraris driven in anger, and owned a turbo and an sti, so.....

W

PS around tight twisties and particoularly if wet very different story, but everybody has been talking about accelleration and freeways here.

Got cut up aggressively and very closely by a black modern Ferrari recently - was open topped and had a 'scoop' low down on the bonnet. Thought he'd show me a clean pair of heels then didn't he after the mini shouting match... Thougt he'd be a poseur and 'I'll show him'...

His car seemed composed and glued to the road as my 300 Bhp Sti V was squealing round the fast corner to stay with him, and with my brain in full 'keep it on the road' overdrive! He later soared past as I moved over to the middle lane, with the Scoob redlining in top!

Very impressed how he keeps it in one piece as well as his licence!

Oh, and the 512TR has a flat -12 and not a V12, so your credibility is somewhat lacking

Guys,
Just for comparison I was unable to shake of my wife in our Evo when I was driving a F355 that we hired for our wedding.

All the way up to about 120-130 it was neck and neck and only then did the Ferrari start to creep away. Booting it at lower speeds and she was climbing all over the back of me and I was unable to pull away.

All I'm saying is that it may be closer than you think.

P1 may be able to beat many ferraris to 60 but will start to lose groud beyond that. I am still getting over the shame of being beaten by my boss' 911 at present (non turbo) - we both accelerated from 80 and he overtook me. not good.
