Wiper Blades

Can anyone recommend really good wiper blades for my scooby. I'm fed up with the lines left by the normal halfords blades after a few months. Read something on here a few months ago about rally spec blades? any ideas??

Used Champion VX blades on my 205GTi. These have a venturi that sucks the blade down onto the screen. Very good up to about 85mph but then lift off like most other that I've tried. Could be worth buying one for the drivers side and see how you get on.

Pleased (in a way….I thought it was just me!) about the comment from Alcazar, as I recently bought some Bosch blades for MY01, on the recommendation they were the best, but found the total opposite. Smears on both the driver and passenger side in the centre – I have thrown better blades in the bin.
I will need to buy some replacements before the winter and dark wet nights, when you need a clear screen!

After years of throwing blades way 'cos they were sha55ed after 6 months I asked a mate if he knew any good things.
He told me to clean screen with meths and newspaper and the blades with meths.
What a result! Wipers still going strong 12 months later. Your problems may be the screen, not the blades.

I've also got Bosch blades after recommendations, but not been overly impressed, though they are better than the OEM ones for me. The screen often has lines of muck where the blades 'rest', even when the car is relatively clean, so I suspect it may well be the screen that's the source of the problems.
None of that applies to my main problem with wipers - the drivers side sweeps too far (above about 45mph, or on super-turbo-speed-wipe-mode ) and hits the plastic thing on the pilar, doesn't seem to do any damage but makes a damned annoying noise! I got one without a spoiler as I just thought it was tarty and useless after experience with Halfords' own blades - never had any problems with lifting off the screen, perhaps because my car is too slow Do you reckon a spoiler'd blade would stop it travelling so far? Can't see why it would as it's in another axis to the direction of downforce, but perhaps extra drag would slow the wiper down so it would begin the downward sweep without making contact ). Is there some method of adjusting how far the wipers sweep?

Oh and there's something in the latest Top Gear mag about PIAA's new wiper blades which are all silicone instead of silicone coated and supposed to be the biz (according to their own marketing, don't have any independant opinion).

Been using silicon wipers on both our cars for over a year and they are the biz. After a while the silicon coats the glass like Rain X and the rain just runs off the windows. Don't smear or squeak either.

I put some Bosch blades on and paid the extra for the spoiler on the driver's side - as advised by the shop. Then I realised that the spoiler was already on the arm and when used at high speeds the spoiler (on top of the arm spoiler) created too much down-force and flat spot with lots of smears.
It now only works well above 69 mph....that's my excuse anyway.

The new silicon wipers from PIAA are about as exciting as wipers get, taking wiper technology to new heights. Their secret is that the blades are 100% silicon and not just coated in silicon like most wipers. The result? The blades cut through water, leaving no streaking on the screen. Those hip PIAA guys have even produced a version with a carbon-fibre frame, and with the company's logo predominately displayed, they're aimed at the performance-tuning boys.
These come in at £14 (standard), and £16.67(carbon fibre) each
