After trawling the web I found this web-site in the US with some very nifty dial replacements that glow in reverse in the dark (and they only cost about £30.00) I used to have a MkIV golf and they are sililar to those, so look very nice.

http://www.procarparts.com/store/displaydetails.cfm?pid=ING-02WRX-REV

Looking at them I have only one problem, they only go upto 140 mph, where the UK dials spin around to 160 mph.

Question - has anyone fitted these dial to a UK MY02, if so has it affected the actual speed reading, or does it under-estimate your speed?

Help required, cheers

Hooley

P.S. Are the US WRX's different from UK in the speedo area?

Oh,

Forgot to say - I've ordered some from them Via a very conveniently located brother living in Indianapolis - a £30 gamble

Hooley -

I looked into these dials when contemplating getting some made up for over here - as far as I can tell, they will physically fit the UK/Japan impreza's, but the speedo calibration will be wrong. And no, no one makes them with the correct calibration.

I did have someone prepared to make some up for me, but that seems to have gone quiet....

Sad then to think that low cost cars like the VW Polo come standard with it. Ok, they also have garish (IMO) red, but still.

Unhappy

But those gauges only go up to 140 Mph and the red line starts at 7000 Rpm!

Yes, hence they're no use to us in the UK.

I did look into producing our own, but production costs are high. I would need to be confident of selling around 100 units before it could be done.

100 x £150 production = £15,000. For a product that may or may not sell, is something of a risk, to my mind !

Cool

Just for the mathematicians £15K (not £150K )

Still a shed-load mullah for a spangly speedo dial IMHO

Give me a nice HUD any day

The price doesn't suprise me - the Yanks are well ahead of us in manufacturing these sort of EL displays, and since they know they can sell more of them over there than we can here ( not necassarily Subaru models, I'm talking generally here ! ), the production costs can come down.

Having said that, last time I looked at these dials they went for alot more than that in the States, so maybe they're just shifting old stock.

Funnily enough, my '98 turbo's gauges do this, except in green, when I put them on at dusk.
Doesn't last into full darkness though. Pity.

MY98-00 have a style of Reverse Glo anyway.

MY01-on don'r either.

i know that there are 2colour IndiGlo dials out there for Pre MY97 scoobs at the mo...but don't look as good as the Reverse or even 5 colour IndiGlo kits I could get!!

Two Colour

Five Colour

both these kits can be changed between colour and brightness!! very tarty! lol

These glowing gauges do look really nice. It would be even better if somebody made a replacement dash with a turbo boost gauge integrated in with the rest of the instrument dials.

Has anybody ever seen anything like this available ?
