Basically the conclusion seems to be (from the EVO test anyway) that if you drive on roads as smooth as a test track then the RS is pretty good. If the roads are bumpy then you are better off with an Impreza. Also you sit too high in the Focus (same as with the cooking versions)

Charlie.

Focus won, but the WRX was a close second. Everything else got left behind.

They had a lot of nice stuff to say about the WRX, but gave it to the Focus for being faster point-to-point and for being more 'exciting' to drive

These test really are meant as a guide!! You have to assess the kind of drivin you do and chose a car appropriate to that. I do a lot of motorway driving and bought a scooby :rolleys: If I was wearing my sensible hat I'd have bought an E36 M3 or a Fiat Coupe Turbo but I do like it from time to time when I hit the country roads and I always wanted a scooby. There will probably never be a car that does everything well, just whatever it was designed to do. Scooby IMO is for very tight, rough twisty roads, focus for long sweeping a and b roads, elise for the same or track, landrover defenders for scaling mountains and cossies for lying in bits in a council estate garage

Everyone makes their choice for their own reasons

Question

Instead of scanning the cover, why didn't you just open the magazine and read it for yourself

I took the image from Autocar's site,
even the "best driver's car" issue didn't arrive, and the "evo" and "Top gear" arrive on the 15th of each month.

I'll summerise what Jeremy Clarkson said of the Focus RS inbetween takes @ the top gear filming.

- It is faster round the airfield track than an impreza.
- It is terrible on even slightly unsmooth surfaces. (some swearing about this!)
- The diff is lethal on the road!
- It is very well priced.
- As a former cosworth owner it is very disappointing (though he used 'stronger' language!!!).

I'm sorry I'm bugging you, but all British magazines arrive here in Israel 2 weeks after they come out in England.
I bet the RS won, but who came in second and what where their impressions?
