Why was the SIDC stand in the middle of nowhere?
#1
even though i dont own a scooby anymore, i took along a couple of friends to trax who are thinking of getting a scooby.
so off i trotted with 'em to the place the SIDC stand was last year (prime location, near all the action)
i said, wait till you see this lot, you'll love it......and it wasnt there
so i wandered around and eventually stumbled across one of the biggest owners clubs (SIDC) tucked away on the grass on the outskirts.
i said, dont worry mateys, wait till yer see 'em all go out on the track, you'll love it. and lo and behold.....zilch!
where was the scooby turnout on the track that happened last year? it was one of the highlights of the show last year.
whats gone wrong?

I didn't have a problem with the tent being where it was, by all the scoobies. I must also say props to the guy who got what I considered the BEST location any car club could have got, absolutely perfect, track action behind us, on a hill overlooking the show and, whilst looking around a quick glance up showed you your pride and joy gleaming in the distance.

Track Day Organiser
Scooby's were elevated above the rest
I thought the location was great right by the track
As for scooby's on the track seesions are too short and too many speedfreaks that can't handle there car's for me
GREAT DAY OUT one scooby managed a 3.93 0-60 WOW

Great day for the "Crack" as for Scoob's on the track I think
1) IM put paid to many not doing it by revoking warrenies after Donny
2) As tackdays go dangerous too short and ends up a race (altough this time did use the full circuit and seemed longer)

IM have not said that track days invalidate your warranty. I asked the SIDC to ask them for clarification, but the SIDC line seems to be "We must'nt push IM for an answer because they will say 'yes it does"
Anything classed as 'abuse' will invalidate the warranty, but no one can give a definitive answer as to what abuse is. The reply on the SIDC forum gave a few reasonable ideas and suggestions but until IM give an answer its all speculation.

IMHO Its this uncertainty as to the warranty issue that's led to the decline in trackday attendance this year. Other factors are the cost of trackday insurance, the expense of consumables and a few instances of dangerous behavoir on track.

Neil,
Yes I agree with that threads views but I, like many UK owners had heard the "word" that warrenties would be revoked but probably not heard or read that thread
I could, lose 10K of the price of my STi7UK without warrenty Although I have enjoyed 9 trackdays and had my old MY99UK service either before or afterfelt the risks are now too great IMHO
It may be many moons before I can trust/risk IM and such loss

Anyone thought of covering up your numberplates? christ I do that and the 3-door doesent even have a warranty. Common sense to conceal the cars identity if you're worried about it being identified as a car on track.
I had a load of rave flyers in the boot and gaffer tape stuck to the underside of the bootlid for just this purpose.
Now stop making excuses you bunch of jessies and get out there and give it some stick
astraboy.
P.S. Please note the

i was a bit gutted at first when i saw the location, but as the day went by i was glad it was where it was. no little spotty oiks walking through and touching them etc etc. and wherever i was i could see the SIDC enclosure.
anyway good day out i think.

i think it's the best, away from the hustle and bustle sitting at the top. great view of track as well, was able to video my car on track.
good spot to get some tan (albeit a few minutes).
only down side was the lack of track sessions for scoobs.
aanyway, no complaints on the location.
