Going to see an Impreza P1 tonight. W Reg. 26,000 miles, just serviced, FSSH. A1 condition no chips never raced. Asking price is £20750.
Do you think this sounds good?

I reckon you'd be better off going for one of the later cars as they seemed to have sorted out teething probs from the earlier ones. Later cars didnt have paint problems and also came with Armourfend.
If you are able to get a 51 plate I would seriously consider it. V few P1s were registered after a Y plate (mine missed the 51 plate by a day or so) so its got to be more desirable and have 18 months more warranty.

One option which may or may not be right for you.... save yourself a packet and buy an STi 5 instead, change the springs and put a few broquets in the fuel tank. Should already have had the speedo adjusted to UK and delimited. Check you have a Cat 1 alarm. P1 also comes with RAC Trackstar which you may or may not want to duplicate. Insurance may be slightly trickier to sort and you'll have to sort out exactly what variant you want (Type R or not, not all variants have ABS, RAs have roof vent and very short gear ratios). The paintwork on the P1 spoilers is suspect on many. Some owners are worried about pressing on in case they ground the front one, but I didn't measure it to see if it was lower or not.
Whichever one you buy if the brakes are standard they are inadequate - replacing discs/pads/brake lines/fluid helps a fair bit, a lot go for a big brake kit.
Also the OEM 205/45R17 tyres are P0 and not the best. Best to switch to Goodyear Eagle F1 215/40R17 or Toyos if you can. The suspension on the P1 seems very well judged as it is and I like it a lot.
Just my 2p.

if you buy privately get it checked by aa/local subaru garage so there has been no off road activity, make sure you can get insurance(hard <30).look in autocar, most of their cars have uprated brakes andexhaust ~£2000 if you buy it yourself
