Northants tickets up 2,000% +
#1
Northants Police were on the local TV this evening. They're still maintaining that the cameras are on black-spots.
However the tickets they've issued have risen from around 4,000 in 1999/2000 to 85,000 for this year.
What a wunch of bankers.

Stevie,
Personally, I don't think they did.
They showed something around a 10 - 15% decrease in fatalities (down 70+ from 80+), which is good, and probably resulted from their targeting blackspots. But the rest is bollox.
I find it insulting that they keep coming out with this rubbish, and expect us to beleive it
Based on their figures, they'd have to issue 110-120,000 tickets next year to get a similar decrease. And that's on the basis that ALL vehicle related fatalities are as a result of speed, which simply isn't the case.

In defence of any police force ( NOT ), if you fail to punish abysmal driving, guess what, you will still get serious accidents.
By alienating generally law abiding citizens, you just lose friends and supporters.
Ian, sorry mate, could'nt resist.
