I know there has been a bit of discussion about the server. I was just wondering what kind of timescale we were talking about for the chat server to be back up and running. I hope it will be soon. I fully understand that you have to get it all right and understand why you need to do it - you have my praise !

must confess i'd rather a chatserver with no confirmed logins rather than no server at all.

Also do not forget the advanced driver training via Dick Grimes!

Personally I could put up with up to 3 imposter versions of me, online with yours truley. As I had codes and offline gossip, with which I could verify who was who!

As some seem to like not having to log in under your BBS identity, why not set it up so only recognised users can use their own login, BUT you can also use any other login you choose?

Can we have the chat facility back.

Sure we know that there a couple of t*ssers who think that they are clever impersonating other people.

But, now everyone is aware of these problems can we not resume the chat service. A large warning at the login that "people may not be who they seem to be" should be enough for most of us. Afet login a quick check would confirm user ID's, for example a simple "I'm a fully paid up member of the RAC as I have an unreliable car" would identify Mr De Banke.

Can you not log the IP addresses of the people using the service?

Again it's a case of a few ruining it for the rest.
