) - I also have 4 or 5 contacts who are employment lawyers that owe me favours

Sorry to hear that Jamie.

I've found the CAB in Middlesbrough (01642 864455/861888) to be very good - unbiased, friendly advice and free. They sometimes can't answer your question there and then, but will get help for you within a few hours.

If you ever come across a good firm of Solicitors in the area, please let me know - seem to be like hens' teeth!
