Got back from the V2002 festival in Chelmsford early hours Sunday morning and found my car had been broken into - apparently 10 mins before I arrived back. Neighbours who saw the thieving gypsies trying to break in called the Police. Within 5 mins, squad car and van arrive. Another car (non-Scoob) also got broken into down the road.

No visible signs of door lock or frame damage done to mine. All 3 officers bemused how mine was broken into. Made a statement and they sent a fingerprint man out the following day. Unfortunately, no prints found - said the culprit was wearing gloves.
Damage to mine: plastic cowling under steering column trashed and tip of jammed screwdriver in ignition lock (which I managed to pull out).

Thanks to: Advice from Scoobysport and Power Engineering; the Police; and my alarm/imobiliser.

Flat4.

If no damage to door....

Did you leave it unlocked?

if not

Does your alarm system have an anti signal grab feature?

Did the alarm go off?

In the what car security tests didn't they manage to break into an Impreza with no damage in under 10 seconds?

I would imagine it is made easier by the pillarless doors. Use your imagination as to how you could break in.

The car was locked and alarmed (100% sure of this).

Yes - the alarm has an anti-signal grab feature.

The alarm went off - which is what alerted the neighbours.

The chaps at Scoobysport told me that the frameless doors do make it easier to get in.

Anyone know how easy it is to fit the plastic cowling? Does the steering wheel need to come off??

Very sad news mate.

However suggest the following:

Ditch the 4 wheel thing
Get a powerfull bike
Realise what true speed is all about
