Time to enjoy!

Thought it would be a good time to give the car a good thrashing - been doing too much reserved driving recently - so after a good warm up decided to test the 300 against a UK Turbo (T Reg) last night - but before the fun even got started the scoob said not tonight sonny emission control sensor went **** up and suggested to call it a night.

Still the T reg came in useful touched 138 - nice job Mr W.

Anyone else had similar issues - assume warranty after ready manuals covers it all.

300 best not p/packed touches 142 at moment no engine mods.

Right the roads between York and Scarboro (through Garrowby hill) are a treat - previous car Renault Clio 16V was fun - with the subaru it's the business.

Must go faster )

Yes it is a good road but watch for the blue scoob cause he will tease you and then beat you!

i.e. its pc plod and he WILL tease you into whos got the fastest scoob and then flick the lights on. I have nearly fallen for it on the 64 but seen him do it elsewhere.

You can if he nails it for a bit and then lifts off and lets you carry on going like a nutter. At that point its your own fault as you are not being egged on, he merely set you off on a red mist foot to floor session. Like alot of people do.

So if it was human rights and all that surely no one would get caught as they were teased by someone at some point.

I was merely mentioning this to the NMB as he seems as though he could react and given the speeds he has just mentioned i would not want him to suffer the blue light feeling as mentioned in JGM's thread earlier today.

Just my 2p worth so end of topic for me.

Do you have the 300 with the p/pack ? what's your bhp now ? - I used to own a R reg UK Turbo and this 300 slides all over the shop on corners in comparison even with the 18" OZ's - have you done anything with the suspension to compensate.

Thnaks for the warning!! I am currently working in Heslington 1-3 days a week and have taken my scooby for a run up the A64 a few times..Obviously obeying the speed limit at all times *cough*.. probably would have bitten if baited as well..any idea of the reg (I know you can't post it in full but a big hint would help). Also can you recommend any other good roads around the york area to take a 'sporting' drive on??

If you take a back road out of Acomb through 'Rufforth' and follow to the A1 junction it's very nice indeed ! watch out for farmer giles and his tractor though

I had a standard UK turbo 98 model for 3 years, and when it went back got a UK300 with PPP. With the PPP pack it does seem overall quicker pass the 60 mark, as the engine basically continues to pull.

In regard to handling, I am putting it down to the tyres, I had Yokohama's on the old one, stuck like cr@p to a blanket, the UK300 has Pzero's and it requires a whole lot more attention when cornering.

Cheers

Jim

Got to be honest...I'm really dissappointed with my UK300 - seems to be really strangled and flat, only mod is a WRS backbox (fitted by the dealership) which sounds nice but thats about it . So c'mon all you UK300 owners is it worth me spending my money on upgrades (PPP, de-cat, ITG) or should I keep my money in me pocket?????

Can't coment on ppp classic shape but as the owner of a UK300 PPP it makes a huge difference. Had the pack fitted at 1200 miles after the run in period. Also fitted ITG panel but no noticable difference here except slight increase in noise. Drove my01 non ppp and my00 classic but nether had the punch of my uk300. The turbo punch that your getting in 3rd I get in forth. Makes gears feel like one lower if that makes any sense.

I have a UK300 with only a ITG panel filter fitted. Touched 147mph and still had some left in it.

If I were to be honest the UK 300 spec is very nice but I miss the rawness of the earlier R reg scoob I had (standard UK Turbo) should have stuck out for the P1 - could afford the car but the insurance was > 2k which is a trifle steep as I personally class this as dead money.

Was also disappointed that the insurance went up for the UK300 and it's slower than the old car !

Still I'm 1 year into a 4 year deal and am willing to stick it out.

The misses will be squeezing 1 out early next year so I'll start the subaru savings scheme for the nipper now !!!

Indicated 150 at 6000rpm.

Come on Dave, haven't you got the PPP yet, dont you know that with it the UK300 got more torque than the new STi.

I have a UK300 with PPP, full decat and ITG Filter. I bought it recently with the mods on it already so I haven't driven a UK300 without mods. However, I have driven a standard MY01 with no mods and it did feel slow compared to my old MY97 UK Turbo. My UK300 is a little quicker and better round the bends even compared with my old scoob so I am happy with it The only performance advantage the MY97 has over my UK300 is in 2000-2750rpm range where the turbo spools up quicker in the older model. Try different tyres too as I am using Toyo Proxes and they are supposed to be better than the P Zeros. They certainly feel grippy
