Unhappy

I have had my blue/black mica MY02 WRX for a whol week , washed it once I have noticed already those nasty whirly light scratches in the sunlight.

How are these caused , is it because the car may have been dry when I washed it? Should I be using a certain type of sponge and Shami Leather to dry.

Pleeeeease can anyone help?

Cheers

Firstly, no automatic car washes.

Best way mate is to hose the car down thoroughly first, otherwise what you are effectively doing is moving small particles of dirt and dust around a dry surface which will leave small marks.

I just use a normal car spongy thing and a wiper blade doo-dah to clear excess water after washing down.

Best of luck.

There is one solution that will get rid of the swirls. The one i use is by Wax Wizard. Think its called the cleanser solution.

Meguiars offer a product called Scratch-X which deals with swirl marks or you could simply go for the 3 phase process they sell (Which includes cleanser, polish and Carnuba wax) and retails for approximately £25. I know somebody who uses this and he tells me it's brilliant. In fact, gonna order mine today from them. When I spoke to them yesterday they recommended to me to use the Gold Class Wax/Polish (£12.99 for 473ml) and Scratch-X for removing swirl marks.
Have a look at the tips on meguiars website as it mentions swirl marks and how to remove them.

Good luck

Nick

P.S: My MY01 is 12 months old and I too, have swirl marks (Only noticeable in direct sunlight though!!!)

So basically a normal sponge and leather will sufice just ensure that the car is thoroughly wet before I start cleaning!?

I may purchase a Karcher Thingy which should help - Wadya think?

Where can I purchase this 'Wax wizard' stuff from m8? Is it some kind of T-cut and is it safe to use?

Cheers
