Id check out the insurance section first if i were you you wouldnt believe how much these cars can cost to insure
Also check out your local subaru dealer (if your planning on buying a uk car) and remember that these cars have 6 month service intervals (or 7.5k whichever is first) and as some of the services can cost upto 500 quid its nice to see which one will be next on the car that you choose

Hey guys, thanks for all your advice and emails.
As I'm 49 with no claims ever, I guess the insurance is as good as it's gonna get! I just need to get it out my system then I'll get a Sinclair C5 or Robin Relliant.
I am a serious buyer and circa £10k. Best exciting car gets the dosh!
Many thanks
John
