Dear Simon

I appreciate that your time is precious etc etc

BUT

This appears to be descending into a bit of a farce

Can I make a suggestion as you have explained the problems in the past in setting up bank accounts etc

People [who made pledges] forward to their prefered charity their pledge inclosing a letter on Scoobynet Paper and a SAE asking for a receipt [ok I appreciate the cost of the donation has just gone up by the cost of a 2nd class stamp]

Someone [and I would be happy to do this] could then tie up the receipts with the pledge list which I'm sure you still have under lock and key.

And hopefully after a relatively short time that person could produce a schedule of pledges to who and how much

Simon please do not take this as personal moan I would just like to see this put to bed

FWIW, SDB is in Finland right now (fecking Pugs ), so give him a chance to travel back / respond etc.

But I do agree it should be a N°1 priority. I'm sure SDB realizes that though.

Two Grand from the Government is a good reason for the delay!

Surley now this must be a good reason to decide on a single charity and offer them some admin help

Again [broken record] I would be happy to help

Can someone post a link to an old thread please. All sounds intriguing but not sure what this is about.
Would love to contribute, but like more details.
Thanks

In a nut shell

QUITE a while ago our LORD Simon De Bank set the world record for driving sideways

There were many pledges to raise money for Charity as a result of the World Record

But as allways its not that easy to collect and pay over the money efficently

The extra £2k sounds good, but the longer it goes on the more you won't be able to collect. People will have moved house, forgotten about it, have nothing to do with Scoobynet any more, etc.

Phil

I'm a director of a small charity and I looked into it. As far as I could find out. Either the individual fills in the gift aid form and sends it in with payment OR its done via a single account.

We could leave it up to the individual to contact the charities and ask for the forms etc, but that would stop any internet payment systems.

There is another possibility that occured to me last week, which I am looking into.

i was wondering if anything was gona happen regarding this, yes i suppose it would be a bit of a pain for s/n to become a reg charity, but once done it would be dead easy to set-up other fund raising tasks for SDB

i was pondering with the idea of sending Richard's (poor nicks bro) family the money to do with as they see fit.

BTW Hi Richard hope you and the family are ok, chin up m8

Or how about we pick..1-3 charities,By the end of the month.......... and ask for donations to be sent direct. Thus avoiding all the problems. With each donation a note mentioning it is from "Scoobynet" .After a few months said charities are conyacted to ask if they could let you know how much they recieved.

Job Done.

Ive only just got out of bed!!!! Phil said it better.

Exclamation

The hold up has been a few things
1. In order to protect the people collecting the money(I.e so donations can be paid into a scoobynet account and not someones's personal account) a proper named account has to be set up. This requires a charity number(SN is not a registered charity) and a whole load of hoops to go through. Such as setting up directors, giving the bank minutes of meetings etc.

2. The Govenment will give us 23% on top of all donations due to gift aid. However all monies must be paid into a single account in order to qualify(see 1). This equates to about another 2000 quid on top of what was already pledged.

3. A payment method has to be set up, and administered. Paypal would work, but what of those who want to send cash etc?

4. Shaun and SDB were working on this and had a mechanism in place. However the show stopper is turning away and extra 2 grands worth of free money for the sake of a bit more organising. As yet AFIK we've not found an easy way around the gift aid route unless every person donates to the charity and fills in a gift aid form individually. Then that raises the issue that we do not know who has paid and who has not.
