After attending several meets I have seen small stickers of a black rats head on some cars number plates.

What that about then? Is it some private club?

The black rat sticker is usually found on police vehicles, m8, seen lots on police bikes.

I've heard an old wives tail that you can go on Police Advanced Driving courses, if you pass you are given the black rat and you'll apparently be given extra leniency by police should you be caught over 70mph.

Sounds a touch fishy, anyone heard something similar????

 

Unfortunately, after a conversation with a friend of mine in the police force... this seems purely like a car legend. He is not aware of anything like this. The only way you get leneancy is perhaps if you are driving a car that says POLICE down the side and has blue flashing lights on top.

 

I said it sounded fishy!!!

You dont even need blue flashers these days just the words 'Policeman' or 'Jack Straws Driver' on your CV!

 

I thought it might be something to do with the police or some under leg hand shake, nipple tweaking club!

I think maybe you're getting a bit confused. They are NOT rats but BADGERS. It is to signify membership of the Order of Black Badgers. A group of road outlaws who aim to disobey all road law. They NEVER obey speed limits, drive on the wrong side of the road when able and actually swerve towards pedestrians who step into the road. UP THE BADGERS!!!

 

And all along I thought Mark Kahn had a mouse sticker on his number plate

Errr...I think that sort of thing is likely to land you in more trouble, if not with the Police, the certainly with the RSPCA

The black rat actually signifies the Met traffic division, its predominantly a met police thing, however it seems to be recognised all around the country-It wont stop you getting stopped, and if they ask did you put it on there-You certainly had no idea it was there...

Pulled up next to a biker who had a rat sticker once (big mf bloke too ).

Asked him if he was a copper & he nearly fell off in surprise He was!

Told him that it was the rat that gave him away

Asked him whether it worked & he said sometimes, depends if it was a minor infringement or seriously taking the P.

Seems fair enough - should apply to all

 

This is what I know.

The black rat stickers are used unoffically by the MET police to let others know ur one of them. It's some kind of police charity but its used for that.

I use them on my vehicles. Had a few flashes/waves from police!! I got mine from a m8 who is a m8 with a copper.

tattooed a met copper today, and mentioned this subject. as a few have mentioned, its a symbol used by met traffic police. apparently summat to do with the bike cops wearing black leather (ooer ). he said that it gets you out of **** from plod if speeding etc.
said he'll drop me one in, hope he keeps to his word.
if he does, i will get image scanned, post it here, and any nova boy accessory store will be able to print it out on vinyl for you, like gk's in colchester can.
