MY01 Paint Problems / Consumer Rights
#1
Tomorrow was supposed to be a day to look forward to. PPP fitted to my UK300 and then a local Scooby meet in the evening.
In preparation I gave the car a wash and wax.
On the front wing there was a black mark, about the size of a good stone chip. Thought it was a dead insect. Pushed lightly with my nail, only to watch in horror as the paint came off down to the primer. Then looked at the bonnet and there are the same black mark there about 4/5 of them. Also there are some near the roof line. On closer inspection these appear to be below the paint top coats. One is almost like a very small paint streak. How I didnt notice these before I dont know. Maybe its been the hot weather.
The front wing, bonnet and roof to my mind need a respraying. However as the car is three weeks old, having lots of resprayed panels doesnt appeal.
My dealer has been 100% up until now. This might be a test . I do feel at this moment in time I should reject the car, and ask for a replacement/ money back ? What are my rights.
Has anyone else suffered the same problem ?.

I can see lots of threads about paint chips, which I am an expert on after owning a P1. This is more a paint defect. If you find the offending thread, please let me know.
Jonathan
Cant PPP only be fitted to std Scoobies

it DOES count! now your cheating!!
changing the uk300 for another will merely provide you with a quick fix, heres the reasoning...
chins gets uk300, nice to be back...
chins finds it slooooowwww...hmmm...ppp
chins getting bored....
chins finds problem with uk300, thus validating his desire to change......
chins WILL change uk300, get another, state he hopes that this time it's for real, then shock horror, another post to state his disgust at shoddy replacement, then off very quickly to m3/P1/etc
chins then sells m3 etc to get another scooby coz he knows he's wanted here,he knows we miss him, and he loves scoobys
why do i think this...?
coz its EXACTLY what i'd be thinking/doing right now!
nothing feels better than chasing a new motor, what a buzz!
i'm waiting for that fiver mate, or do you need it for a deposit? ok, i'll have it later

Reject the car. Don't know about you but i'd not want another one straight away in case it does the same thing. Maybe get them to find you a nice P1 instead (by nice I mean one with all it's paint still intact if such a car exists)

Tiley's have the UK300 without black spots as they have not so any yet. No one seems to want them around this way. Since the launch of the UK300 they sold all the P1 but one. They are keeping that for you Jonathan

My dealer still has 5 new P1's and 2 second hand ones. The New P1 in their showroom is about to run out of warranty soon its been there that long
Apparently there is a market for them for the over 50's
