My car had a one of those Subaru removable towbar thingies on it. I am never going to tow anything so I had it taken off today.

Was a little surprised to be told that it wasnt worth me taking the tow bar away as they are not recommended to be reusable, not even to be put back on the same car.

I was going to give it back to the guy I bought the car from (a friend) as he paid £400 to have it put on!

As I have never towed andything and no experience I took tha guy (a caravaner) at his word.

Whats it all about then? Apparently once they have been stressed they are useless when taken off for ever reusing.

Some light shed pls, is this right?

Ta

Matt

Sounds like complete and utter bollox to me, do you still have the tow bar? I am after one so that I can put my mountain bike rack on the back.

Go and get it back from them. They'll probably sell it on otherwise.

ba$tards!

the mechanic took over an hour to take it off and sort wiring out. charged me £70 labour and no tow bar to take away.

they have serviced this car from new, and the maintenance bloke always suggests for "small" jobs where i can go for cheaper parts etc.

last thing i expected was him to bull$hit me. they must have knackered it taking it off and given me some blag

makes you mad grrrr
