It was serious.

Not on a par, but you know when you drive and have a near miss, but can picture the carnage to you vehicle in your head.

I then looked back at the front in its undamaged form, and you have no idea, how relieved I was!

funny thing was cem, wanted to catch it on camera!

How I dont know, my concern was not having to fork out upwards of 3k for a new bumper.

ROTF!

I forgot about this, was sooo funny.

The look on Adams face was one of abject terror!
I took a couple of pics, but was too busy digging my heels into the ground! Lets wait for the results.

Hi all,
just wanted to publicly express my gratitude to Cem, and Alex Creasey after a happy burn around the countryside yesterday almost turned into a nightmare for me.

After enjoyong a slow procession, four cars.

Me Cem Alex and R19KET pulled into a country pub for some luncg.

The sun was shining, making a perfect photo oppotrunity for cem. I moved my car to line it up with the rest, and spent a little time cleaning the mess of octane booster that had leaked in my glove box.

I then walked away fro the car without looking back whilst cem took pictures.

Next thing I know I am being shouted at, and i turn around to my horror to see my precious car roling downh the hill

Obviously I ran to stop it, but it had gathered speed and there was no way I could do it on my own.

Everyone ran to help stop her and an accident was narrowly avoided. Needless to say i almost had a coronary, luckily Cem didnt catch my face on camera, it would probably have over exposed the film!

Thanks to all the guys, I owe you big time!

That would be such a lousy way to damage the car ... I can slightly imagine that split second when you realized the car was moving.

<shrug> Oh, well, no harm done in the end ... phew indeed.

Cool

Adam,

There should be a lever with a button on it somewhere near your centre diff lock control...

Glad you guys caught it.

Just a thought, surely a "near miss" usually ends in damage... because you "nearly missed" them... maybe a "near hit" would be appropriate ... sorry... ignore me... pollen count is too high for me at the mo.

Adam
Do Defi do a handbrake force gauge.....??

Cem
Since you are the unluckiest man I have ever met, if you'd taken any pictures, the car would have run over your camera anyway.....

Moray,

I think you will find that a near miss is an accepted term in the english language for a miss that was very NEAR to being a hit.

I am cmore concerned as I have never not put my handbrake ln before. There is a chance it failed, but it was probably me!

Odd thing is I didnt leave it in gear, another thing I always do. I blame the poxy leaking octane booster for everything.

Well, you shouldn't leave it in gear as it will cause starting problems

[a joke - this was a recent suggestion on IWOC as recommended by a dealer...]

Exclamation

Lucky you all kept your cool and thought clearly and took the correct action to avoid any serious danger. I know a lot of people who would have just frozen in shock and would have just stood there watching. Very lucky indeed. Glad nothing bad happened.

Adam,

Hum... Octane booster vapour made me temporarily insane and forgetful... I think that sounds like reason to make a compensation claim against millers (or whoever)... Claims Direct's number anyone?

You could sue for compensation regarding the damage your reputation has suffered through the posting of this account of near-legendary mupptism LOL
Mostly it's not good to let your car roll downhill with no occupants, mostly.
