I have one of these and basically you can't get the WRC noise from it. I'm dissapointed with mine cause it just goes whoosh and i wanted the chatter noise.

i only get a whoosh too

Quote from Blitz...

...and the resulting sound is similar to the current breed of Group 'A' turbo rally cars. Blitz are the only manufacturers to include two different types of trumpets with your kit so you can change the sound your dump valve makes!...

Peccy,

MATTeL got the chattering sound when he added an induction kit to his '01 along with the HKS SSBOV... he has the K&N one from GGR.

Nito also got a similar effect on his '98 with the HKS SSBOV + HKS Power Flow induction kit (or similar name).

heard an RS Escort the other day in Dartford that had the chatter. A sequential dump valve he had, but can't tell you what make it was.

Just like to mention that if the dump valve is chattering it isn't really protecting your turbo that much. As I understand it, the chattering you get from WRC cars is actually the wastegate, not the dumpvalve.

Or so I understand it anyway.

I have a Blitz dump valve and can get it to chatter even at standard boost - just screw the adjustment stud all the way in.

I've got an early Blitz - not sure how early cos it came wiv the car to the previous owner even so pretty early and only has a trumpet at the vent. Yes it does have the adjustment bolt.

That bolt doesn't do anything it just comes undone and the stud stays in the same position.

The hexagonal nut is a locking nut. Undo it and then screw the threaded bolt in using an allen key, then tighten the nut back up.

Not very good at this mechanicing lark are you? (joking)

What it does is adjusts the spring tension on the piston inside the dumpvalve so it will either be tight, so the air has to SQQQQUUUEEEZZZEEE out or loose so the air dumps very quickly.
This produces the different sounds.

Don't go too loose though, especially on raised boost as it will leak.

Cheers

Rich

when it the stud fully tightened / loosened???

when its screwed all way in / shown in the photo (about 10mm showing)???

when i screw the stud further out then in the photo there is no resistance from the spring, so i take it this is past its loosest setting and theres no point loosening it further?

Weird how Blitz advertise a "WRC sound" from a dump valve when WRC cars don't run dump valves at all ...

You can acheive this sound for nowt by removing your dump valve completely and blanking all the hose connections. This'll give that WRC chirp on lift off when the pressurised air within the system blows back over the turbo vanes and/or oscillates the wastegate. Contrary to what you might think this actually improved response between gears as the intercooler & pipework actually holds pressure between gears - meaning less 'lag'. The turbo may start to 'stall' but it only takes a tiny fraction of a second to spin back up once the throttle is open again.

Caution: This won't do much for the life of a standard turbo though, and there's a vastly increased risk of something going 'pop' in the induction system pipework/intercooler area. Do it at your own risk .. preferably only after expert advice!

I ran mine like this for a few days and then reverted it back to the standard recirc. valve with no problems .. your experiences may vary! I did meet a guy who had been running his car without a dump-valve on the standard turbo for a few months with no problems ... I wouldn't recommend this without upgraded intercooler pipework and a modded turbo!
