On my way home from work minding my own business, looking forward to a beer in the sun when I was t-boned by two ****ers at something like 50 mph.
The two ****ers disappeared & I dialled 999 - turned out they had just robbed a cabbie and were making their getaway.
I have advised my insurers of what has happened & Subaru assistance are taking the car to my dealer this a.m.
The car is now banana shaped - I reckon a write off.
I am going to the docs this a.m. - no life threatening injuries but some killer aches, pains and bruises.
Is there anything else I should be doing to protect my situation ?
I am fully comp. insured with Tesco - just about to find out how good their service really is !

Not sure if this still is in practice but there is a fund to pay out if u r hit by the uninsured (insurers all pay into it)
not 100% sure but look into it.

Bloody bad luck M8. Hope you don't get the same crappy service I'm getting from Privi##ge. They are refusing to do ANY work on the car cos the Drivers side air bag is on back order.

Hope you are ok. What model / age got mashed ?

There is a fund, but insurers dont really pay into it.. WE DO!!! But you may find, that if it wasnt an accident ( due to the nature of the crash, via robbery etc ) that they may not pay out.
Insurers/Government.. The biggest scam operators in the country

Yeah, I'm battered, bruised & wiplashed but seemingly no lasting injury.
Car was an RB5 WR Sport - now badly mangled on the near side, had I been carrying a passenger the story could be more bleak, door & front wing was pushed in by about 15".
The Subaru Assistance recovery driver reckoned the b***ards must have been doing 55-60 to cause so much damage to an Impreza.
I'll know a bit more about insurance situation on Monday.

Run over the witnesses and do a good job out of it. They can't be witnesses if they're not around to report it right?

Pleased to hear you are OK. Not nice! Not only do you have a crocked car but hassle to sort things out. It took a considerable argument to get my car sorted properly after a 'not-my-fault' shunt and my insurance took a knock. Even worse when it is a rare car like an RB5. Values can be hard to agree. Hope it all works out ASAP.

I had this happen to me in my old car 2 days before i was trading it in...

Some lads had stolen a van and crashed into the back of me they also crashed into a few other cars... in the end the insurers of the van that was stolen decided to pay me for the damage to my car....

The fact that my dad is a soliciter who deals with compensation claims helped... do you want me to ask him for some advice...??

They only payed out because they where traced (the people who did the damage)

Dan

I think and it's only think that the fund only pays if you are injured to some degree. The fact that you have F/Comp means your car is insured and as your not severly injured and will recover with no lasting effects, the fund is basically only for personal injuries or you would have people claiming left right and centre for damaged vehicles.

A friend of mine was knocked off his m-bike by a car driver who refused to stop. He lost his left kidney and had to make a compensation claim for his injuries and it took about 3yrs but was paid out in the end, however it was just for the physical stuff and as he was 3rd party lost about 4.5k on his written off bike.

Sorry to hear the bad news - try the ABI (Association of British Insurers) for some advice. They're the ones who had the "slush" fund for uninsured claims. Good luck.
