I have just realised that I am going to be towing next Saturday and thats when the rear arches of my Wagon foul on the tyres - they get very hot indeed and all I can smell driving along is burning rubber!!!

Has anyone fitted Spring Assisters to stop this happening??

Try the Blue Oyster Bar if you are into stiffening up your rear end. Not everybody's cup of tea but I have to admire you coming out on Scoobynet like this. Still a few people have suspected for a while now so better out than in I suppose (or better in-out-in-out-in-out-in-out in the case of your rear end)

I have used the rubber ring type spring assisters in the past, the type that fit in between a coil of the spring. They worked well.

To fit them you will need to jack the rear of the car up so the spring is fully extended, heat the rubber assister in hot water and it should go in easily.

Remove them when you get back home as they do upset the handling
balance when you don't have any weight on the back.

If you tow a lot I would consider a self leveling system from the likes of Monroe, had a system fitted on my Scorpio about 8 years ago, totaly transformed the cars stability when towing.

Oh Bug**r sorry for spoiling the thread.

Its a jap import trailer with goldwheels and Carlos Fandgo spoiler you need to stop the tyres rubbing.

Another serios point, if the tyres are rubbing have you got the nose weight too heavy on the trailer? Whats a wagon allowed 75kg?
