Saw a cerbera at the traffic lights ahead and thought "he's seen us" as the **** end squatted down and took off. more traffic lights and I could read his No plate..."i know that from somewhere" I thought <DING> It was the private plate off now my turbo, his head nearly spun off as we came along side, it was his old car. had a good natter about what's been done to this and why he sold it, what a top bloke. chuffed to bits I am, some bad news though, he fully de-catted the exhaust and supplied standard cat in bubble wrap in the boot (which was not there when I purchased it) so I have no cat for the MOT (when it's due, it's only 2 years old at the mo). What do you think my chances of obtaining the cat back from the dealer are ??? (by the way his cerbera has done nothing but break down hehe,he wishes he never sold (mine) and let the garage give him 13 and a half K for it, I put down 16 and a half to buy it....ouch !!!
He says mine is putting out 270 brake... is this realistic?
PPP'd and catless exhaust, sounds a bit much to me but does feel stronger than 240,
Hi to the green bug eye in chelt as well (see, was it you)

Whilst Claudius does not seem to think so, I have a MY00 with PPP, TSL decat CP, TSL BB, ITG, FDTA DV, and it registered 249 on the RR - have now fitted the DP too and will be hoping for approaching 270. Hope that makes sense, and shows that it may not be BS !

Anywhere between 230 and 270 depending on RR, operator, air temperature. Believe which figures you want but if a UK car with PPP and decat has 270 then my fairly standard RA (276bhp) must have 320bhp at least, maybe it has .

Depends what fuel your running it on
if your running N/U which isnt really the best for a PPP then the book states 237bhp, if your running SUL then 250bhp is the mark (mine tested at 249bhp) and now its decat you should be looking in the 260bhp mark as your going to get an easy 10bhp from removing that orrible cat on the DP
270bhp is a fairly realistic estimate, but probably more towards the 260bhp mark.

Good ! but what annoys me is that they took away the cat that was bubble wrapped in the boot left by the previous owner,

The PPP replaces the centre cat and standard back box. So the centre you have is an STI type centre with a resonator. If you look here http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...=113949&Page=7 PTMW has photogrpahed the PPP components. You should get all the bits they take off back including the standard ECU (not the MY01 PPP though). So techincally the whole OE exhaust is missing. The previous owner may have sold the other bits though.

Thanks for that Chris that helps identify what I have,
It looks very much like the one thats bolted to the underside of my car (does it differ greatly to the stock item as it's only a small piccy).
So now looking at the down pipe. I thought that was part of the PPP also, what I have is rather a large stainless pipe with Lambda sensor in near turbo and straight down to the centre section pictured in the other post, no boxes on this down pipe bit !
So is it road legal as it is ? will it pass MOT without further change.

The PPP does not change the downpipe this is so the car still has a cat and will pass an MOT and is road legal. From 1992 every car had to have a cat fitted by law. The PPP simply removes the centre cat. The PPP could also not be fitted from new because of type approval regulations so the car had to be registered as standard and the PPP added after. If your car has not got any cats then its technically its illegal and has a good chance of not passing an MOT emissions test. Thats why a lot of guys totally decat and rebolt the centre cat for MOT time. The centre is very easy to change (minutes to do) unlike the downpipe. Their cars are illegal for the rest of the year though. I run with a catted DP as my RA ony has one cat anyway and I dont need the extra few horses and hassle come MOT time .

Its worth tracking the centre down if you can IMHO.

Cheers

Chris
