I had a Tamyia Tamtech racer about 10 years ago that was this size, it was great fun. The speed control and receive were in the same small unit with the battery being called a Tampak!
By the way, Maplin are selling a Scooby MY01 rally car R/C for £19.99! Not a clever as the above but cheap and fun.

Floyd,
funny you should mention the maplin scooby. got home on friday to find my brother had got me one as a belated birthday pressie. Top fun, ok, not as cool as my petrol r/c Integrale (engine a bit dead at the moment!) but still top, top fun.
Oh, and you can get them from 'ModelZone' shop in Bluewater, for same price as well.
top fun.
Only problem is that they are stuck on 27hz (mhz?) frequency, so no racing against mates, unless anyone knows how to change the crystal to change freqs

Arch,
No problem, glad to hear you're still alive!
Just sent you some new mail...hope you get it this time
No scooby yet on account of unhelpful insurance companies giving me quotes of well over £1,000
25 next year, so hopefully I'll find a decent quote and get one then
Jim.
