I have the APS kit, after 9 months, no water problems. The shop I bought from say the K&N filter used, does not allow water to pass.

the APS uses a K&N filter. the idea behind it is pretty good but i have not tried it yet although i am getting one ( hurry up craigH ) . isolating the filter in the inner wing will stop the filter from sucking hot air from the engine bay. so in theory it should be better.
i have tried the blitz and then moved to the K & N filter which will be available for sale soon when the aps arrives. i will tell you how i find it when i try it.
cheers
