Never read such a load of ill-researched bollox!
"The Evo 7 costs 30K from Ralliart UK (which you should in order to get the all important titanium turbo)"
Umm, ok..
"Subaru's power, unofficially, is nearer 320BHP"
Sure...
"...while the STi treatmeant has turned the ugly WRX into a shape with real presence"
All those body upgrades been worth it then!
Autocar, yet again talking outta the darkest of orifices.

Yeh - so the cover said - then i find its just pictures!!
Interesting to see how difficult to split the Evo VII and STI VII. Seems its down to what you like in terms of refinement - both blisteringly quick!!
Hope the UK STI is gonna be as good as the P1!!!

Being the sucker that I am, I bought Autocar yesterday (pretty picture on the front and all).
The review was a complete waste of time, grrr.
Surely the price of the STi (£32k was unrepresentative of the import prices available now and hopefully wont be the price when it is officially imported. (guessing they may learn a little from the P1).
And yes £30k does buy you a Raliart Evo7 according to their ads.
Anyway, I was left thinking they hadn't really decided which was best!!!

Jon,
They worded it to say that you could only buy a titanium turbo option upgrade through Ralliart UK, which is bollox.
Anyway, Iain here can source one for considerably cheaper.

Yep, well aware Ralliart are very expensive and the reason a 7 is cheaper than a 6 from Ralliart is it is cheaper in Japan now.
I believe Ian sell both cars from around £26k, as do many other importers! Personally I felt the test was badly written (ie not based around fact). But the attitudes of some of the car mags helps to keep UK car dealers over charging us (The test in 'car'(vs M3) test went on about Ralliart UK cars being better and worth extra over other imports).
Personally I think an early Evo 6 @ £20k or an old shape STi still look good compared to either of the new cars.

Am I alone in thinking Autocar has gone to the dogs. Personally (flame suit on)I think the STI 7 looks no different to the WRX if anything it looks more tacky. Then the UK 300 vs WRX, be serious neither of them look particularly different. I find it difficult to understand what Subaru are up to they had the chance to evolve the WRX into an extremely desirable car but failed miserably. I hope in about 2-3 years the WRX will be the car it should have been from the start the potential is there.
I love the old shape and am a Scooby nut but am sorry to admit that having seen the EVO 7 in the flesh it looks much more appealing.
Rant over.
