Chaps / Chapettes -

Used the scoob as a wedding car yesterday (complete with ribbons and everything!) and as groom waqs Mr Nerves we went on a small "detour". I went to pass a corsa in third and the clutch slipped .

So, looks like Im gonna be due a clutch soon. Local Subaru dealer (part of one of these "motor villages" ) have never ever ever inspired any faith in me, and I wouldnt let them near it. But what can I expect to have to pay?

And any recommendations for someone not too far from me who could be trusted to do it? Its a 96 4door, totally standard with 52k.

My dad paid close to £900 from a main dealer for a clutch on his 97MY UK Turbo...

I can tell you exactly the price of the parts as I had mine done last month.
Clutch cover 143.99
Bearing 70.98
Clutch Disc 84.50
Total 299.47
+vat 351.87
This was from a subaru main dealer. The only slughtly cheaper quote was from Mr clutch and I thought rather go for the real thing.
Labour is the biggest problem as its a long job. Approx4-5 hours.
Dont be tempted by a skimmed flywheel as they can upset the tickover apparantly. As my mechanic put it"If subaru could increase the acceleration by a simple £25.00 fly wheel skim, they would have done it!"
Good luck m8
