To cut a long story short, involving mortages, my Impreza and my salary I'm about to wave goodbye to the Turbo .
So at the moment I'm not using the car, I've borrowed an Audi quattro (a proper one - the UR turbo) off an unemployed friend (Mike - he came to the first Tour D'Ecosse with moi) whilst it is uninsured by him and hence idle. So Admiral have added the quattro on to my Impreza policy for £30 for two weeks. To me that sounds cheap for a Group 20, full comp, (I'm 23, clean license, 3yr) insured for £9K.

Is that sort of price cheap?

That sounds about right to me. Over a year that would cost you an extra £780, which would be alot. From my experience with Admiral, they do not charge administration fees when altering a policy (other than when refunding your money).

Most insurance companies have a minimum charge of £15 per week.

My brother tried to insure a car for three days once and was told it was £15 for a week

My insurance with Bell Direct lets me drive any other car where the owner gives permission. This wasn't something I asked for it just has it on the certificate.

James, it might be that if you drive someone else's car under your own policy you are only insured for third party, even if your own policy is fully comp. I'm not saying that that is always the case - it will depend on the small print of the policy, but if you're going to rely on that it's worth checking the policy. You can still drive it with third party of course, just don't assume you've got the same cover as when driving your own car.
