Question

Hi MD,

I'm definitely interested in buying The Backbox.

I have a MY96 Serie Mcrae which is completely standard at the mo, and have been looking at the Scooby Sport exhaust for a while combined with an ITG filter. Could you possibly answer a few questions about the unit for me please?

How many miles (approx) have you covered with it fitted?
Can I get someone like KwikFit for instance to fit it?
Whats the approx power increase when combined with a replacement air filter?
How does it sound compared to the ScoobySport alternative.
Where are you based? I live in Aberdeen so we may have to arrange postage / collection too.
What sort of price? I saw £150.00 on the thread....

Also, what exhaust have you (presumably) upgraded to, and have you got a decent downpipe? (another area I'm looking into)

Cheers for this, sorry about the inquisition!!! I'm definitely interested though.

regards

Duncan

Duncy, the Prodrive bb was part of the 'performance pack' fitted to the car when I bought it.

The car had done about 40k when I changed it for a Scoobysport item.
The system I have at present is S/S de-cat downpipe,STi de-cat centre and the S/S bb.

Backbox very easy to fit, I did mine on the drive and I have a bad back AND the car is about 60mm lower than standard!!!

Sorry I dont know about power increase of the bb alone, all my rolling road days have been with a collection of mods.

Sound...much nicer than standard! it gives a deep maeningful note but not too loud, gets louder after about 4.5k revs...not as deep or as loud as S/S bb.

I am in Kent so I would be asking for price of post to Aberdeen.

If you are defo wanting it I will find out how much for decent courier/post.

Let me know, MD.

Parcel Force for a Prodrive centre and backbox was £12 with £500 insurance, but it took 5 working days to arrive.

John, we sampled Parcelforce when Mole sold a (brand new) dvd player to a lad on here...received the cheque, wrapped up and sent the dvd.

Two weeks later it had not arrived in Wales.

After numerous telephone calls to Parcelforce, it turned out that we had to claim on the insurance...we got it, but what a downer.

It was very embarassing with the man in Wales probably thinking that Mole and his Dad were dodgy ba$tards.

Seems that if you work for Parcelforce you can get 'bonuses'.

MD.

Edited to say North London not Wales, that was something else.

Hi MD,

Definitely want it, can you please proceed and find out details of carriage etc. and email them to me on 'duncjardine@hotmail.com'. I'm working offshore on a production platform til Wednesday and can give you a ring after then to sort it all out if you like.

Seen your handy work with the digital camera, any chance of a picture of the bb too? :-)

Cheers

Dunc

Duncy, sorry I cant post pics till next week as Mole is away and has the dig camera.

I can describe it, stainless steel with 3" round single exit pipe.

Oh and it has 'Prodrive' embossed on the top of the exit pipe.

I will make some enquiries tomorrow re the post cost.

You can email me as per profile.

ps. you must be a brave man working out in that North Sea, you wouldnt get me on a rig!!!

Regards, MD.

Here's a piccie of the 'P1' version from a P1 WR (not standard P!, which is an STi Version).
It looks identical, but the 'P1' Logo is replace with 'Prodrive'

Hope this helps....
