#### Latest Update ####

Car was recovered less than 3 hours after Tracker activation, 40 miles away from where it was stolen.
Absolutely no damage whatsoever (though probably thrashed a bit !)
Police think it was taken to a spot then observed to see if it had a Tracker or not.

Great result.

My work partner has just called me to say that his brand new BMW 330i convertable has just been nicked.
He parked up in Sainsburys & went into the store to buy a sandwich - the keys were in his pocket.
During the time he was in there (10 minutes) someone had nicked his keys out of his pocket & driven off in his car, laptop/palm/mobile the lot (they were locked in the boot !!
It has a Tracker so thats something & Police say they will check to see if Sainsburys had any CCTV cameras that might have caught them in the act.

Goes to show that if they want it they will get it plus no matter how much security you have on a car if they have the keys then its game over !!

Well it was activated 12 minutes after it was nicked so will let you know...it took him that long to walk round the carpark (twice) & accept that it was gone !!

I guess this is the problem with radio-remote car alarms/central locking. Once he's got the keys, all he's got to do is stand amongst a bunch of cars, press the 'unlock' button and see which one's indicators flash

From a practical point of view, it's a lot harder to nick a car without central locking if you've got the keys as in this case the thief would have to go and try the keys in all the Beemers in the car park.

He thinks they were in the car park - waiting for potential "victims" who they then follow into the store......

Scary

Of course if the thief targetted him when he came in he'll have known which car to go to............

Flawed logic there Carl. Im sure they'd watch u drive in, follow you, nick the keys then go back to where you parked your car.

I thought with blackjax you had to activate when your car had been stolen?
If he had been pick pocketed he wouldn't have known it and by the time he did they would have been well gone ?

Question

Has he got the car back then yet? Been a while now.

Blackjax works well in this situation. Please don't discuss how it works on the bbs, it works through discresion.

Yeah, has he got it yet?.

Ive got a tracker fitted that kicks in if the car is moved without the key. Obviously that would not have worked in this case.

Some im interested to find out how fast they find the car when YOU notice its gone.

Well that works then!.

It wouldve been nice if the Police had the manpower to observe the car once it had been found and see who came back for it.

Never happen though.

NavTraks Proactive system would of been ideal in this situation, even if the scrot nicked the keys, the vehicle would have sent a theft alert to their control centre within minutes of it going !! -that would of suprised the To**ers driving it.

Hol

He was told by the police that they dont observe to see who comes back to the car normally because this often leads to a high speed chase that endangers the public & often writes off the car.
Thats what they told him anyway.

Exclamation

Bear in mind that IF theres a next time the car will be taken somewhere and swiftly dismantled to find the tracker. Which will be dumped and the car will go missing. Maybe we should invest in 2 trackers so when they find 1, they'll stop looking.

if it had BlackJax, next time (again IF!) they'll take owner and car.

Glad he got his car back though

Richard
