Great news!

Despite my impending divorce, I have decided to arrange my finances so that I can keep my Scoob. I have also decided to once again take part in Le Chateau Challenge 2000.

This year, over 40 Chateaux in the Loire Valley have agreed to take part in the event organised by Marie Curie Cancer Care. The charity will have a larger support team in France & this year the event will be contested by up to 35 classic & sports car teams.

Last year, myself & my (nearly) ex-wife won the event, visiting 37 Chateaux in 2 days. This year, with a new navigator, I am hoping to retain my record & win the event again against a much larger field.

Each team has to raise at least £500 sponsorship which goes directly to support Marie Curie nurses. The teams pay all of their own expenses, including ferries, accommodation & food.

I would like to sincerely thank my two main sponsors, Pete Croney of

OK, you have ferry costs, hotels, food & fuel. Maybe also some bottles of plonk to take home. There are options obviously on what hotels you stay at etc etc.

Last year, I spent just over £700 all in for two people (4 nights). This was staying at 3* hotels & eating very well. We even had a luxury cabin on the ferry! I treated it almost as a no expense spared holiday, but you could obviously do it cheaper. I have an exact cost breakdown if you're interested (email me).
