P1

Hi,
Im looking at the purchase of a new "family vehicle" to use as a daily driver, so its got to be user friendly to the family meaning 4 door saloon and to me the only thing on the market with a bit road presence is the P1, can any owners on here give me good / bad points.
Cheers

Dohhhhh sorry guys.
I was meaning a reasonable family sized saloon, but after just reading the mail regarding the P1 stolen on the A3 it make it worrying that my other half will be driving it when im at work out of the country.
Why are all these fantastic cars like this to own, scumbags ruin it for everyone, unless you can purchase them and make them a toy in the garage you cannot hold on to them.
Ive got a Escort Cosworth at the minute doing just that (2K miles) but with the parts issue if i use it and something goes wrong im knackered, i really fancied the P1 it looks great.
Cheers

Other than having a defecit in the door department, I would have to say that I use mine daily to cart the kids around, and for any long journeys with the four of us. So far nobody has had any complaints about comfort etc.
The lack of folding rear seats does have the advantage of forcing my Wife to use her Yaris when she carts the garden rubbish off to the dump.

also consder an rb5.
But for ultimate four door concern, try to find an sti 5 or 6 type ra v limited.
Which is like a p1 only better!
ask scott davies, although his is a bit of a slow one (must have bought a dud).
only prob is it doesnt have abs.
New alarms, do have the feature which locks doors whilst driving! seems it is worth having.

There are actually at least 2...yes 2...4 door P1's that have been sold through the UK Subaru dealer network, with full UK IM/Subaru warranty, alarms, same colour spec etc etc etc etc...
Thought you might like to know that

Fozzies !
Yes, seat does have the adjustment and the wife @ 5ft 8ins has no problems; I can not get the car off her. Like you I am away half the time and she uses it daily to and from work, shops etc. with no problem.
Have taken out the RAC Trackstar subscription - a good comfort factor but will not let the mindless morons dictate to us enthusiasts !
Insurance for this old foggie is very reasonable - 780 with Frizzell using wife`s CSMA discount; alternative was 830 with Privilige.
I hope she`s still running it in; keep in touch for updates !

Bob,
I am 28 with 1years NCB and one accident in the past year. This is 1 yr from a kit car policy which doesnt really count for anytihng for most insurers I'm told but they honoured it
£1350 through Keith Michaels. P1 was about £2K plus......

Hi - I'm Mrs Mog
I drive a P1 with 2 children - a 6 year old and a 7 year old - the front passenger seat tilts forward quite a long way and so I do not find it a problem only having 2 doors. I'm 5 feet 2 inches tall and have no problem sizewise. Bad points - it is so very easy to be driving along at 60 mph + thinking you are doing 30 mph. Other drivers hate you - e.g. men driving Peugeots, VW's etc etc and you have to suffer quite a bit of road rage!!! Good points - it sticks to the road like glue and it so easy to drive you can leave most people behind without even trying!!! Basically - buy a P1 and you'll never regret it. Regards.

My wife drives our P1 everyday to and from school and work. She's kneehigh to a grasshopper at 5ft and has no problem driving it. Just make sure the misses realises how low the front spoiler is, as it appears that petrol pump stands and turfs throw themselves at the spoiler when women drive them. Or so I was told..
We would both agree though that you'll both love driving it, still have the grin after nearly 6 months.

FozziesCossie:-
I have a wife & three nippers, 6, 8 & 10 years old. We all fit nicely in the P1.
2 doors aren't a hassle. My lady says her rump hurts a bit after a while in the thing so we're going for a cushion. Don't think Prodrive do a cushion though.
Cheers
