Well it's been a few days since we had any rumours on the MY03 face lift, so hear is what I was told today.

I'm in the process of getting a new Scoob - STi hopefully so I have been calling round a number of dealers seeing what's available and for how much.....

During the negotiations I mentioned the rumours of the face lift and was told that it was not going to effect the STi, when I asked what he knew about it and what the changes are, he replied that the MY03 change would be for the WRX to have the same lights as the STi, making them look more similar. He also said the dealership had received photos today! Overall it would only be a small change.

I'm not sure if I believe this, the dealer is in Essex and I'm in Oxfordshire so I can't verify the pictures. If it is true, I don't think the facelift will effect residuals as much as we all fear.

If you were phoning to buy an STI, the dealer is hardly gonna tell you the MY03 STI is gonna be different as you'd then expect a discount off an MY02 !

My dealer I spoke to last week also said that he thinks the major change will be the inclusion of the STI headlights, maybe there is something in this.

By the time I mentioned the facelift I am pretty sure he understood that I would not be buying his STi demonstrator....£27,495 seems a bit excessive for a car with 3,500 on the clock, and I wasn't interested in a WRX.

You could be right though all part of the sales patter, but for all he knew I was round the corner so if it was a lie about the pictures, he would have been found out!

There is actually a Black STI type UK Prodrive for sale in the for sale section for 25ish k with the same mileage on the clock, id buy it but i aint got me bonus yet (hmmmm wishful thinking if they pay it out) so cant afford it just yet

For what its worth I read in Autocar or Auto Express the new MY03 will be unveiled at the Paris motorshow, can't remember what month.
Apparently Prodrive has been given the job of restyling the Impreza, and the only thing that is remaining the same from the current model is the 'glasshouse'.
If this is purely speculation I do appologise.

Paris motor show is in September.

Lets hope it gets the 6 speed box, a rechip and lowered. Then I "may" think about buying another!

PS. O'yes... a rear wiper, decent back spoiler and HID h/lights would be nice as well.

It could do with losing some weight as well, mind you my wife says that about me too! How about replacing the steel panels with aluminum.

The MY03 MAY well get the Sti lights.... all the WRX models that are for sale in Japan have STi lights... but who knows, this ones the best kept secret ever!

I can't remember where or who I heard this from, but didn't Subaru hire an ex-Aston-Martin designer? Probably nothing drastic for next year though...

Not what I have heard! what I was told today was production of the WRx stops in twelve days for the change over ehich includesd bigger arches, 3 bonnet vents, tinted rear windows, headlights and rear light clusters with fog and reverse lights in the boot lid.
