Hi Folks, does anyone know if there should be a weather cover under the black grill where the wipers are fitted? Cheers.

 

there is a plastic scuttle panel / cover under the wiper arms if thats what you mean??
you shouldn't be able to see the wiper motor & assembly ??

 

Cheers. The black grill immediately under the wipers doesn't have anything under that, can see the opening and bolt fitments, where does water go when entering the openings?

 

It will depend upon what model of impreza you have.
Classics have a very shallow scuttle with the wiper motor in the engine bay.



Later models the scuttle is wider and has the complete motor and wiper linkages in the scuttle area.




The scuttle grille allows air to get to your HVAC blower without any water getting in, the inlet being via a lipped opening under the solid section of the scuttle panel on the passenger side.
The scuttle has drains at either end and possibly in the middle draining into the engine bay or outside in the A pillar areas.
