Sorn/ storage
Hey guys just wondering whats the best way to store my car for a few months? I have a trickle charger but what else is good for it. The car is alarmed with a clifford cat 1 so if taking the battary off is the best way then rather not. What about brakes wheels etc?
you need to be telling us where you intending storing it etc
ive a mk2 golf 16v that i mothball for 6-9mths every year, all that entails is sticking it in the garage (which is bone dry) leaving the handbrake off and taking it off the battery, nothing else - and has been getting stored that way since 2012! you can be arsey and start removing wheels, leaving on jacking stands etc but never really needed to go that far i thought - unless youve some sort of concourse car youre storing

Gambit is right,
I put my STI spec c and Megane off the road from 31/10 every year and they don’t come out of the garage until March.
I disconnect the batteries ,then reconnect every 2-3 weeks to start them up,let them get up to temperature and move back and forth the 6 feet that my garage allows to keep the callipers / brake pistons free. I then park back up on on a different section of tread to avoid a flat spot on the tyres.
I am not a big fan of the trickle chargers as a friend of mine lost his GSXR 750 years ago as it went up in flames!!!!
Ps,haven’t been on the forum much this year but still have the Spec C with the signed sun visor by Jimmy Mcrae.

Thanks guys. It's staying where it is - my garage! Never had an issue with the trickle charger so surprised your friends went up in flames. Could it be he had a dodgy chinese one?
I have been using the tcharger for a couple of years now but was driving the car every other weekend during or when the weather permitted. It doesnt see rain defo not snow or ice. My road tax came in at £430 this year from those robbing b'stards so thought to sorn and store until spring as it doesnt get out hardly at all during winter. Occasional dry sunday only.
moving it a bit every few weeks is a great idea thanks.

No Idea if the trickle charger was old, left on too long or what but he lost the bike.😩
I’m up in Scotland so my cars go off the road for 4 - 5 months as they never get rained on and absolutely no way does the car killer ,(salt) touch them!
Always sorn as the government gets enough tax out of me. 🏎
All the best.
