Default Does anyone still drive a diesel impreza in 2025?

Good morning everyone.

I know the boxer diesels had a bad reputation, especially the early years. And I'd probably be better off getting a golf. But is anyone here still driving a diesel impreza?

There are a couple that have come up for sale nearish me as of late. A 2010 on 95k. And a 2011 on 140k.
On paper the lower mileage one seems more appealing. But is this the version with the weaker crankshaft? Or was it revised by then?

cheers folks

Having owned a Legacy one, I wouldn't recommend that engine, even if it's sound, which is unlikely. It's poor in so many areas, and ruined my ownership of what was otherwise a decent car. You'll spend hours worrying about it popping, it's gutless, poor economy, and you'll be trailing a haze of soot everywhere you go. Sorry, but I can't think of anything positive about them at all.

I've heard after a dpf delete and remap, they are a different car. And that it helps with a oil dilution issues. But I'm worried the added torque may put added stress on the crank.

I did have the (mis)pleasure of driving a forester diesel a few years ago. And that did feel quite slow compared the the 2.0 tdi german diesels that work usually have. But I put that down to being the lard *** of the subaru family.

I had a Litchfield remap on it, but it was still a shadow of a tdi. A true tractor.
