Default Exhausting All Solutions!

Hi All

My GF8 WRX has developed a blow on the exhaust and by the looks of it, the flanges at the back box connection are not going to last long so a gasket is not going to be the solution.

It has an STI back box and I'm keen not to fit a noisy new exhaust. I like the way it is.

Does anyone have replacement exhaust parts for sale?

Alternatively, can anyone recommend tasteful replacements?

Thanks

If you like the current exhaust and the flanges are the only problem why not go to an exhaust place and get some new flanges welded on. Should be cheaper than buying a new exhaust and any decent place would have no bother doing it.

Excellent! I hadn't considered a refurb...

It would be nice to have something a bit special and true to the car, like a Genome or something - wishful thinking!

See if you can find a used pro drive system , quite quiet and if you still want quieter get another silencer welded in to the mid pipe

I had a proper look under the car today at an exhaust specialist and the resonator is all but disconnected from the pipe and the second cat also has a leak.

I managed to find this, in case anyone needs to do a replacement of the centre section...

OK. So the Sprinting Hare warning seems valid.

Thanks for the heads up!

I have an order acknowledgement but no shipping info and they don't answer the phone...

Thankfully I used PayPal so shouldn't have any issue getting a refund.

Very inconvenient though. I planned to fix this tomorrow and have had to order fixings and gaskets separately and may never get used...

no idea why you went down that route.

this would have done exactly the job, for £100 cheaper and its stainless steel

So this has a silencer, presumably does the same as the existing less one Cat.

I've seen people mention having difficulty getting their cars through and MOT and while I know there's a cat in the downpipe, I'm dubious about losing one?

classics will pretty much always pass a cat test no issue simply with the main d/pipe cat (or Sports cat) in place

I've opted for this in the end.
