Default Bumper removal Classic - instructions / worth the hassle?

Local (fair) body shop suggests removing the bumper covers myself then they will respray.

I just think the clips etc will be mullered on a 23 year old car and I'd be better finding another body shop !!

Any simple instructions / thoughts for a 00MY ?

Better off just breaking the clips and replacing.
Do it on a warm day and you might salvage some.
Id pre order new clips before attempting the job, part numbers must be out there.
Good luck!

Thanks. Might save up until I can just hand the keys to the car over, or just try one.

Be prepared to discover some heavily corroded beams underneath those bumpers!

I'm thinking 'leave well alone' at the moment. But then I'm thinking what I can manage myself before (car) age takes its toll...

It's easy enough to do, and the clips can be had for pennies off eBay.
Once they are out, search "Subaru Impreza trim clips", measure the old clips for length, and the hole diameter, (use a metric drill, or vernier calipers), and you'll get packs of new ones in a couple of days.
But...as mentioned above, be prepared for the support bar to be mostly crumbly iron oxide.

Thanks. Will park this for the time being and sort some other bits first.
I remember scouring the country for a rear bumper insert / support for a Volvo 480 (the pop up light one) that hadn't turned to dust. Scrappies would take off the back bumper and call me back with a weary sigh...
