Hi all, currently have an 06 Sti. As a few have said the cars from factory are made to have more understeer than oversteer for safety reasons or whatever.
Now I like to have a bit of a back road hoon and I daily the car with the occasional track day. What sway bar configuration would you guys recommend. I’ve heard people go with stock front and a bigger rear sway bar (22mm or 24mm). Others go for a front sway bar (22mm) and rear (24mm). Which is the best known configuration please if you guys know? Personal preference but a stiffer/thicker bar makes the rear end looser ring Alyn at AS Performance 01914103770 for availability and advice and good pricing.
Fit coilovers if not already done , it will have a much bigger difference than a thicker ARB , BC are decent or Tein normally do a cheaper set , I’ve done thicker arb , but once I put coilovers on hardly noticeable v a good coilover set up , and night and day driving wise 👍
No harm to anyone the last thing anyone needs are BC coilovers if your pushing any car on they are cheap for a reason. Pure rubbish.
On another note that is exactly why you don't fit cheap coilovers cause at the end of the day that is what the correct suspension is designed not to do.
They work well on 5 out of my 6 cars , and handle much better than the standard suspension , blitz are good but ££
No harm to you Sir your either driving like Miss Daisy or have never driven a properly set up car. Hertfordshire wouldn't be the best place not to loose your licence.
The Fsti was tracked with no issues , to the point of melting the tread on the front tyres , suspension was still fine and handled very flat virtually no body roll , the gtr is sensibly used on uk roads , if nothing else fun hitting the speed limit in about 3 seconds works well 👍 not really miss Daisy 😁 still reverting back , invest in coilovers of some type , your base ones bc and going up through the options and cost v a thicker arb as coilovers it’s a firmer ride but handling is night and day , i have a set of blitz I took off as one was knocking but could not find any one who could actually repair it properly , but best handling and a very good but still soft ride 👍
Had bc br series on wrx for 7 years ,did 90k miles with 7 trips to EU. Yes harsh but way better than oem.Added roll centre,alk, 22f/24r sway bars,adjustable drop links. Roll centre kit took it to another level.

Track cars are a totally different story and as for putting them on a GTR well in my opinion is a travesty to the GTR. I have a 33 and a 34 and have extensively modified both. Looking back it was a foolish thing to do. The only thing they got was a set of Nismo springs and larger rims and tyres both are over 1000hp. Firmer ride doesn't always mean better handling. We change suspension between stages in some of the rally cars. Imagine going to a forest stage with tarmac suspension. But horses for courses and if you really want a decent coil over set up be prepared to pay at least 3k. BC's are scrap !!!
Springs are scrap.
Mine jdm Hawk sti seats on gt1's coilovers. Nothing better on the market for UK roads. Track is other story.
24f/25r sway bars ,hardrace pillowball lateral and trailing arms,pitch mount and hardrace engine mounts,rear subframe lockdown bolts and Perrin diff bushings,kartboy and asperformance gear set bushings,alk and roll centre will be fitted soon.

On a gtr r35 , it’s more like 4 k plus for suspension , but running 6 cars i won’t spend that , the standard suspension was not good , even when it’s set firmer it’s too soft , people change springs but then forget speed bumps , bc 1000£ later and a proper suspension set up , it’s night and day , the guy who works on them was surprised too , as he took it out a few times whilst mapping it , it is horses for courses and much up to the individual , no one says you cannot pay £££££ but if you try something and it works then that’s a good thing , and there is a budget then that’s what people do , the gtr very little will get near it handling or speed or acceleration wise , even with bc’s fitted 😂 but i still like my Fsti that’s why I’m on here 😁👍
Because it’s not one , but in reality it’s just a name badge on a car that was kept back by the person who created the name in the first place , but I can explain all the history to you if you need me too 👍😁 called Godzilla for a reason , the apparent super car killer 😂 it definitely says Nissan on my car , same name used on yours , that you said you regretted modding , did you fit the wrong suspension ? 😂😂 Nissan micra same company , that comparison gtr to micra I have always found funny , still quicker than most of its predecessors , it’s funny how Renault gets into so many cars nowadays , you come across as not being very happy about others having an opinion ?
Everybody has an opinion and that's their prerogative. I tend to try and go on facts and one of them is BC coilovers are cheap for a number of reasons.
And I fully respect your opinion and any others who post , but others have different opinions , it’s like asking about which oil which pads which is better 2 or 2.5 engine 👍😁
Has any of you guys done Anti roll bars alone before messing with suspension? If so did you notice a big difference? Quite a few saying to get 22mm front and rear they are adjustable so can change it up a little if not happy once on. Cheers
I did do just the rear arb , as I was told it was a good idea , i put a white line one on , mid setting of the three adjustments , they rust badly , a mild minimal improvement , i never did the front one , from memory on some scoobies the rear arb links can be changed to metal ones as they flex too much as were made of plastic on some models , i then later did the coilovers and noticed more improvement, i was told but happy to be corrected , the standard arb is a more gradual loss of grip , when you have thicker arbs the grip loss comes on quicker and can be snappier , I’ve only ever done uprated arb links , rear arb , or coilover suspension mods , there is lots of other bolt in options , but from what I have used I found coilovers the best , every car I have is now in coilovers , minimal height drop , and a mixture of stiffness settings , 2 on a very soft setting others on firmer , 👍 I don’t track any more , the benefit with a coilover is soft for road quick adjustment firmer for track ,it then comes down to your budget and what you are looking for , on flea bay you see some coilovers at 349£ that sounds worrying , then you hit the better quality’s stuff , my budget , then onto the more expensive and likely better stuff , I accept you normally but not always get what you pay for , Joe your thoughts 👍
There's only one brand thats silver......well, silver and brown
My rear ARB was silver, then went very brown after only a year or so when the coating started breaking down.

Well they look lovely to start with for a few months 😂 then get them properly power coated , my Fsti has a few Cusco bits bolted on they have aged much better 👍
i picked up a set of eibach arb's and whiteline braces - and based on previous chatter about @hedgecutter about his whiteline items i just went and powdercoated before fitting.
Thanks for the feedback all. I’ve gone ahead with the whiteline anti roll bars 22 front and rear for daily driving seems to be the most recommended. I’m going to get the bars powdercoated and getting the underbody undersealed anyway so should hold off the rust.

Fair play, but keep an eye on the front one. I had the same on my 07 STi and went back to standard - the way the Whiteline one fitted meant it carved 2 v-grooves into my ally lower control arms (1 v-groove each side and a good 5-6 mm deep)
Lot's of very fine vibration which I think I just got used to. It was only when someone showed me and went back to standard that I realised what was happening.
Yours may well fit fine, but just sharing my front Whiteline experience.

I believe my rear Whiteline bar has bent out of shape. It's not just rust that is the issue, I've also had material failures on bushings and top mount bearings. Entry level tat.
